Peter stumbles down to the bar, yawning, stretching, and looking sleepy; he is barefoot, wearing mauve silk pyjamas and tying the belt on his tassled dressing-gown. He still looks utterly sleek, as though he has just stepped out for an evening at the theatre.
Bunter, I say, I did want to be woken a bit before the shine was completely worn off the --
He is not in his drawing-room. Realisation dawns.
Now look here, I was sure I had a brandy and spoke to a lovely young woman and then went home, what's this all about?
Finding no answer, Peter goes to the bar and unabashedly sits down.
Barman....Barman?
Peter sighs, and looks up and down the length of the room, taking in the familiar bottles and glasses and the unfamiliar machines of various sorts behind the bar.
Is it serve-yourself in this place, then? I don't mind makin' my own coffee, but a chap likes to know.

He looks down at the bar.
What, is there a wireless inside?
I'm afraid I'm short of cash, old man...don't usually carry fivers in my sleepclothes, and all that.

Oh, here! It's on me. *pulls out a few coins and puts them down*

Making your own coffee may be wise. Unless your name is Dave. Or you want it to be.

He clears the bar with easy, boyish grace, and begins tinkering around behind it.
My name is Lord Peter Wimsey, and you are...?

I don't know.
What might a percolater be?
a trick of coffee makery?
but continue the hunt for the percolater,
I'm sure you will find it, sooner or later.
I'm Lord Golden. Most people call me Fool.

Most people call me Fool, too, though not to my face. Is there one you prefer? Equality among lords, an' all.

Figures that round here even the coffee maker'd have an identity crisis of its very own.

I say, I don't suppose you'd share a smoke, would you? I'm all at odds. I can pay you back if I ever locate my wallet, home, or valet again.

'S all right. Like to take pity on a newcomer now and then. And you look like the sort who's very new to this sort of thing indeed.
'M Hob Gadling. And you're a toff. I can tell.
no subject
On the Patrician nose, one in a long line of toffs, I'm afraid.
He passes the pack back and savours the cigarette.
That does help a man assemble his thoughts, and I thank you kindly. Wimsey's my name, as in Lord Peter and not Duke Denver.
He offers his hand and a friendly smile.

Oh what a beautiful mornin', oh what a beautiful day. I've got a beautiful feeling, everything's going my way...

He bows deeply and kisses her hand.
You do sing wonderful well. Is that a new tune? I haven't heard it in England yet.

Speaking of which, would you mind tellin' an old acquaintance where precisely we are? Is it far to London from here?
[ ooc: I'm playing Peter ignorant of Oklahoma as I think it's 1930s-40s and for him it's barely 1925 or so. Am I incorrect?]

He turns to the others in the bar. "Hello, Akane. Fool! Good to see you again! Hello, Hob. Good day, Lady Tere." He stops as he realises that he doesn't know the tall, elegant blond man in front of him. "I'm afraid I haven't had the honour of meeting you yet. I'm Peter Pettigrew."

Good mornin', good mornin', we talked the whole night through good mornin', good mornin' to you

"How about you, Akane? Looking forward to it?"

Wimsey. My name's Wimsey, Lord Peter Wimsey.
Slightly distracted.
How the deuce....?

Really? That's terrific! After all, nothing spoils lunch like having your food or your skin attacked by a swarm of insects. It can put you off eating for awhile.
