*John wanders downstairs. He looks much cleaner than he did before. He is wearing the new, clean trousers and white dress shirt provided by the bar -- both, by the way, of far higher quality than he usually wears -- but he is sans tie, jacket or, incredibly, trenchcoat (which may well be a sign of the apocalypse in and of itself).*

*He looks around the bar, sees his note is still on the board, and sighs.*

*Then he hears a commotion in the kitchen and heads over there to check things out.*
