First entrance in Milliways chronology
It isn't every day that one of the doors in the Mansion leads to a bar at the end of the universe. However, X-23, sometimes known as Laura Kinney, appears to take it in stride.
Her step half-hitches as she crosses the threshold, nostrils flaring as she scents the air, getting her bearings. But after that initial hiccup the tension in her shoulders eases fractionally, and she makes her way over to Bar, booted feet surprisingly soundless on the wooden floor.
She has had a lot of practice, after all. It's what she was created for.
It takes her a while to decide what to order, body still and wary as she goes over her options. Eventually she decides on a coffee, black, and props herself up on a barstool to watch the people around her.
That's another thing she's good at.
Some people find that stare disturbing. She never seems to notice.
This explains a lot, actually.

"What do you mean?" he asked a little shocked.
He pulled the paper off his hand and placed it in his binder.
no subject
"I do not understand."
She meant what she said.
no subject
He was fighting the urge to tell her everything.
no subject
"No."
Again she offers a one-shouldered shrug.
no subject
This time he was tense.
no subject
She always is.
Her head is tilted in what might be curiosity, but she's not talking.
Not right now.
no subject
He asked because he wanted to know if he was about to get his limbs ripped off.
no subject
"Logan?"
no subject
"Yeah, that guy," he said, "Um... You haven't, like, seen him recently have you? I mean ... Um... I wanted to apologize to him..."
Peter stammered. Oh God he was about to die.
"Yeah," he rubbed the back of his neck his backpack slung over one shoulder. He was edging towards the door, or getting ready to web-sling to the rafters.
no subject
She hasn't seen him lately, not--not really.
"Why?"
no subject
Peter pointed the other end of the barroom.
"I.. ah ... Kind of feel bad," he said, "That and I want to keep my limbs attached to my body."
Peter had stopped grinning now and wondered if he was about to die.
no subject
Her claws still aren't out.
"You will not do that to me."
no subject
He stopped his edging away.
"You just kinda remind me of him, What's like the relationship?"
no subject
"He is my brother."
She's really his clone.
Siblings is easier to explain.
no subject
"You arn't gonna rip my arms off are you?" he asked.
no subject
"Not right now."
She can't say it will never happen.
no subject
"I mean is are you gonna hurt me because of me throwing him across the room?" Peter was hoping she didn't' care.
no subject
This, too, requires some thought.
"If you do it again."
no subject
"I don't plan to," he said, "Unless he tries something... but I don't want to anyway."
Peter grinned helplessly.
no subject
She means it.
And those may be her final words on the subject.
no subject
He put his hand out again.
"I hope to like see you again."
no subject
"I will be here."
This is probably true.
In more ways than one, even.
no subject
"see you," he said and took off out the door. The busy school hall visible from it.
