After talking to Dominic the other day, Morwen decided it might be worth seeing whether anything in her own library included spells that would randomly toss someone into another dimension. She hasn't found anything so far, and she's not expecting to find anything seeing as her books don't cover wizards' work, but for thoroughness' sake... well.
At the moment, she's in the bar, at a table, with a few of said books. The cats were getting sardonic.

"Don't," says a voice from behind her in weary tones, "catch me."

The next sound is THUD.

When she turns around, Deitmar will be starting the process of pushing himself up from the floor, looking resigned and unhurt. A bit shaky, though. He's not very well-coordinated anymore.

"...Are you quite all right, young man?"
At the very least, it's a good distraction from the reading.

He is, at that, distracting.

"This happens occasionally," he says, without much inflection to say how he feels about it one way or the other. "I'm unhurt, yes."

"And yet you fall down on a regular basis."
She'd be inclined to say that's generally not a good thing, but he does seem like he was at least prepared for the experience.

"Something like that," Deitmar agrees to his weakness with fragile patience. "Why do you ask?" Hm. Getting up right now might be a mistake; he'll just sit here another moment while his inner ear sorts out this "up" mystery.

"Most people, as far as I know, aren't prone to regular failure to balance."
...The distraction came at a good time, the narration votes. If Morwen had been left to read much longer she'd start sounding like Telemain, and that just wouldn't help anyone.

Deitmar regrets the rule about no violence in the bar.

"Oh? Thank you for pointing that out."

Someone's a bit prickly tonight, aren't they?
Not that it's entirely out of line, which Morwen realizes. "I'm sorry if I touched a nerve. Research has a habit of getting to one's head."

This is about the norm for him. There's something generally irritating about having plenty of time to realize you're about to pitch over in a confused heap, whether you can actually harm yourself that way or not, and then falling in what is, to you, slow motion.

"Nerve damage," he says, although he hates to make her have just made a horrible pun. "Nothing to be done for it. What are you studying?"

"The last time I was here, I found out that one of the patrons had essentially been tossed into another dimension from here against his will. There are spells that act similarly in my world, and while I doubt I have copy for any of them, I thought I might check, in case it gives people looking into the matter a place to start."

"Magic is not something I know a good deal about." He has the magical ability of a golf ball. "How will you recognise it, should you find a match? Were there any traces of it?"
