Where has X-23 been?

She might have left, gone back to her own world and returned. She may, of course, never have left. Though since the full moon has come and gone, if she stayed out back, doubtless she slept in a tree.

Twice.

At the moment she's sitting on the arm of the couch, one leg drawn up enough to let her use the arm as a springboard if she has to.

One never can tell, at Milliways.

That uncertainty might be why she's watching the other patrons intently. It may also be due to the fact that X has never met a situation she wasn't entirely socially clueless in.

Go figure.

Wells is just glad that there's furniture he knows around here, so he scarcely notices the stranger when he starts to head for the couch. It takes him a moment to look up curiously in the girl's general direction.

She looks back, expression level enough to look blank.

This is a trend, with her.

"Evening, miss," says Wells politely. "Mind if I take this end of the couch?"

Most people tend to twitch a little in between one breath and the next, he's noticed. She doesn't seem to be doing that.

Huh.

She shakes her head, though her eyes never leave his face.

Or maybe it's his torso.

Regardless, she keeps her eyes on him when he goes to sit down, turning her body so that she's facing him.

This, too, is habit, of a sort.

Fair enough. So long as he doesn't have to keep the eye contact, should she make any. Right now all he wants is to sit. He'd get the rats to bring him tea, but he smells like predator. He'll get the tea later.

Eventually, he glances back in the girl's direction curiously.

After talking to Ana, Will carried all the preserves up to his room and took off his cloak and put his quiver and bow down.

So he only looks slightly less like an outlaw from picture books though there's a definite forest smell to him, and he still has his sword.

He'll shower after he's enjoyed an ale by the fire in a comfy chair. It takes a moment to notice her, but then Will nods to X-23, savoring a good proper drink and debating ordering something chocolatey.

After a moment--a very long moment in which Will is subjected to an unblinking and intent gaze--X-23 nods back.

She does not smile.

The unblinking gaze makes him tense up far more then he had before, she reminds him of a predator and he sits a bit straighter,

"Fair eve, milady."

She does not frown, just continues looking at him.

This may last for some time.

But eventually she comes to a decision.

"Hello."

The looking is rather unnerving so Will decides to take a good long drink of ale,

"Are ye new to the Bar, milady?"

Remy was just coming in from home himself, humming something that may or may not have been a French pop song from the late '80s.

It wasn't that X-23 stuck out, really, it was just that he'd been planning on heading over to the couch anyway, more or less, so he smiled, nodding a greeting as he sprawled out into a chair instead, "Evenin' cherie."

X-23 does not appear taken aback by his familiarity.

But she doesn't speak, either, as she watches him, body poised to move.

His brow arched, just a little. He didn't need the ever-present low-level empathy to read her, not with the way she was almost-tense like that.

C'mon, he'd lived with Belle, he knew that sort of body language, "Didn' mean t'startle y'." He offered a hand then, "Name's Remy."

She does not take his hand, just drops her gaze to look at it for a moment.

X may be considering what to tell him.

"I am X-23."

Beat.

"Or Laura."

He tilted his head then, one brow arching, "Which d'you prefer?" And, being as how he was apparently physically incapable of asking only one question at a time, he added, "And how long y'been 'round? Don' t'ink I've seen y'b'fore but t'at don' mean much. Miss t'ings soemtimes."

When you see someone watching the room as intently as the girl is -

Well. It doesn't hurt to keep an eye on them. Sometimes they're just curious. Sometimes they're not.

There's now someone watching back.

X-23 does not look away.

She just meets Paul's eyes, and keeps staring.

Oh wonderful. A staring contest.

Paul's grey eyes hold. He does not, however, try to stop himself blinking, because that would verge on ridiculous.

Eventually X-23 tilts her head, appearing slightly curious.

She still does not speak.

Which seems to leave it to him.

Paul is not talented at starting conversations.

"Is it something in particular you're looking for?" he asks, eventually.

"Hey," says the guy who's now co-opting the other couch arm. He isn't perched quite so precariously, he has coffee!

"Mind if I sit? Or am I cutting into personal brooding time?" His grin says: hi am I am totally harmless.

X's attention switches to him almost entirely, body turning to face him fully.

She's quiet for a little.

Then--

"No."

X-23 does not really believe anyone is harmless.

"...no, it's not okay, or no I'm not interrupting anything important...?"

It's hard to tell with these monosyllabic types.

And goddammit, why are all of them hot? It's like some sadistic creator said 'HAH. TO MOCK DUO MAXWELL I WILL MAKE ALL THESE HOT PEOPLE WHO HATE TO TALK. AND THEN I WILL LAUGH.'

X-23 considers this for some time.

"I am not busy."

...yeah, whoever that bastard is, he's laughing all right.

"Oh, okay. Cool." He sips the coffee and considers her. "I'm Duo. What's your name?"
