It's the simplest question: how do you pay the bills? But when you're dead and haven't a cent to your name in this strange afterlife, it's a difficult question as well.

So Cyrus is thinking about the possibilities. Somehow, he doubts he can get his hands on any of his money from when he was alive. Or his pension. But he's going to talk to someone, that's for sure.

In the meantime, he's still putting things on his tab (in this case, a breakfast of bacon and eggs). It's not like they're going to throw him out for non-payment, is it?

It would be but Amanda doesnt' care. "Ahh, I don't think that I have met him, only seen his signs." though she may make an effort next time.

"How have you been adjusting to this place? Other then the tab."

"I'm getting a better feel for it. It does offer a number of posssibilities. I can read, and meet people, and put some distance between myself and what was. it's just...it's still offputting. Learning that your perception of reality was wrong? That's hard." Talking to Ray Stantz can do that to anyone.

Amanda laughs, "I like Ray. He is really smart." she knows what Cyrus is saying though

"It's not wrong. There is just more to it."

"No, it was wrong. If you think that the world is a certain way, and that way excludes a good chunk of teh truth. it's wrong." As a professor, he insisted on such intellectual acucracy and honesty. He demands no less of himself.

"You would know better then I since I don't know what you once believed." it's true she doesn't.

"It's too complicated. And water under the bridge." And he is sure that she would never understand, being from when she is and all.

Probably not.

"That is a good way of looking at it." she smiles, "What have you been doing to pass the time?" she may be looking for ideas.

"Reading, mostly. The one good thing about being dead is that there is time to get caught up." Though he hopes that the books are on the library system and not the Amazon method.

Well does he return them?

"I have been learning to read. It is alot of fun." she smiles, "Do you have any suggestions?"

He thinks. She wouldn't have much of the cultural underpinnings for most of what he knows. He's an expert on the 19th century, not the 9th. But there are always works of note.

"Ask for something called Beowulf."

Nodding, "Thank you."

She smiles, "I love this place."

"It's better than a lot of places I've been." He'd make a Burbank joke, but she'd never get it.

No she wouldn't, "Best place I've ever been."

"Then I would say you're lucky.

"Luckier than me, at any rate." He'd rather be alive, bad marriage and all.

She turns to him, "You think so?" well he did just say it, "I am not sure."But I rather not think about it."

"Then don't. Leave whatever it was you had behind for now and enjoy." As he does by taking a bite of bacon. Very good bacon.
