Ramon's had a lot on his mind lately, not that he'll probably admit it. It does explain the rather distant look on his face though, as he toys with a tequila in his booth.

Distractions may or may not be welcome, depending on what he thinks of you. But that shouldn't be a deterrent to anyone wanting to talk to him.

He laughs even longer at that one.

'Sure, sure. I expect every single one of them have thought that.'

Some guys just aren't built to be domestic. Jack's one of them.

Chris rolls her eyes at this. She knows just how many there's been before her (and knows she's had twice as many partners as Jack) and also has a good idea how each of those relationships went.

"I hate to break this to you, Ramon, I really do," she drawls in a way that suggests quite the opposite, "but it's been over five years since Jack went undercover in Mexico. You don't know him as well as you think. Considering that the two of you are actually from different universes, I don't think you ever did."

He frowns without meaning to. Not at the part about not knowing Jack - he's pretty much always seemed the same - but...

'I don't know if we ever established that we're from different universes for sure.' Their conversations rarely got past threats or violence. 'But it doesn't make much difference to me. He's still the same man, even if there are a few circumstantial differences in events.'

After that entire business with Roy, Chris preferred to believe Ramon and Jack were from two different universes. The alternative wasn't worth contemplating.

"If you say so."

Ramon shrugs dismissively.

'You're going to believe what you want to believe because you love him. But it's stupid to ignore what I say because you're afraid of the truth about him. It makes no difference to me whether you marry him or not and whether it works or not.'

Other than the fact that he hopes Jack is miserable for the rest of his hopefully short life, obviously.

"Right then," Chris drawls, bored with Ramon's taunts and annoyed with herself for stubbornly staying.

"Hate to cut this short," she says tartly, standing up to leave, "but I'm going to go now and think of how afraid of the truth I am."

Ramon smirks at her in what he hopes is an infuriating manner.

'You do that, sweetheart. Tell him hi from me - and also that he should try not to fuck this one up.'

He sincerely sincerly hopes he does. He'll laugh.
