*stalks into the mostly empty Milliways, cocked hat slightly askew and the coat-tails of his Royal Navy uniform fluttering behind him*
*brusquely, to the bar* Sherry. Dry. Neat.
*takes the glass as it appears, has a quick sip and then tosses back the remaining contents in a single fluid motion*
*sets the glass down on the bar, adjusts his hat to sit properly on his head, tugs at the cuffs of his uniform coat and smoothes down his white waistcoat*
*to the bar* Once more, and this time I would prefer something that actually tasted as if it came from Andalucia. I did not come all the way from Bombay to have a second-rate amontillado.
*takes the second glass and follows the same routine, a small sip and then a swift emptying of the glass*
*puts the empty glass down* Better. At least it should be enough to put up with the Governor-General's asinine dinner-party conversation.
*turns on his heel and stalks away without a word or a glance at anyone, leaving a vague odour of gunpowder and sea salt lingering in his wake*
