Just now, two men walked into the staff corridor, one in black, one in white.

A moment later, two cats are walking out, and the white one goes about his business elsewhere while the black cat goes to investigate the bar from a feline point of view.

He finds he can hop onto a table out of a crouch, and nimbly walk among the condiments; he can climb up into the rafters and walk along them, balancing with his tail;  he can curl up right in front of the fireplace, hiding his nose between his knees; and he can jump onto the chest beside it and stare at the strange creatures in the tank, much larger now, and much more fascinating than squid on a tee-vee were to a human.

A black paw bats the glass, but the trilobites aren't worried.

There were easier fish-snacks to get than the Curious Squid and the trilobites, and not too far off at that.

Lehi, usually called Ana, had, apparently, succeeded in catching a few fish from the ice-cold lake. Just at the moment he was settled at one of the small tables near the tank to clean them.

Those were of course riveting.

The delightful smell!

The black cat sits by the table, sucks in the incredible scent with slightly open mouth, and ponders hopping up there.

He tilted his head, just slightly, not-quite watching the cat over the edge of the table while he worked.

There was a small smile, and then splat a small, somewhat sticky, lump of fish innards hit the floor.

Normally, he would never eat that, or indeed beg in this manner -- but now, the black cat that isn't one gobbles up the small gift before the human mind inside even registers what happened.

He couldn't help but smile again at that, finally peering over the edge of the table at the cat, "Well hello yourself." And that smile just spread, "You want some more? There's plenty if you come get it."

It wasn't that much of a jump really, and there was another chair if he couldn't get right to the tabletop.

Oh, he can get right to the tabletop; and he does. These high jumps are among the great advantages of cat-shape.

He jumps up lightly, and sniffs at the fish innards.

And another smile, "Very nice." He scraped some of the innards together, sliding them to the edge of the workboard, "Don't want to have too much more than that or you'll get sick."

"I-I say, you'll be in awful trouble if you eat those." A soft voice says from under a nearby table.

The cat just looks at the small creature.

Oh, the womble! To a little womble, a cat would seem much larger and more dangerous than anybody else, so speaking to it that way took some courage.

Wellington pushes his glasses up his nose slightly.

"Yes, not for eating. I'll find you some food, okay?"

The cat comes about two thirds of the way up his body, but he has faith in his claws if he needs them.

The cat jumps off the chest and approaches the little womble, trying to look harmless.

He is not dangerous, as his mind is still a man's, even though his instincts, cravings and actions are a cat's.

Wellington pads over to the bar and gets Teja some cat food.

"Good cat." He smiles. "Don't want you to get in trouble now do we?"

The cat food is much less interesting than the trilobites, but it his here and can be eaten now.

Which the cat does.

There is a goddess curled up in one of the recliners, still armed with the stylus and tablet Teja loaned her just after the singing curse struck her own vocal chords. She is staring into the fire and looking extremely distractable.

The cat jumps up onto the sofa with her and looks at her.

This is one person he might tell who he is.-

Eirene is somewhat absent-minded, or she might have caught a strong sense of unfamiliar magic emanating from the feline. As it is, she's tired of having to write out conversations for fear of breaking into a Beatles song, though that wouldn't be all that bad.

She'll just reach over to scritch under the cat's jaw, because cats make everything better.

The cat walks over the squishy sofa, balancing with his tail held high, in a little question mark gesture.

Cats are allowed much latitude; so he lies down with his back against her leg and looks up at her, with a little 'mrr?' as he does so.

Her facial expression: Oh, what a darling litte cat. Except maybe not so much with the idiocy. Slim fingers drift down to thread through his fur, perhaps in an attempt to turn him over enough to inflict a tummy scritch.

All the other felines she knows like that.

This cat likes it as well; he turns over and offers his tummy fluff to the woman's hand, without thinking twice about it. He doesn't even have to remind himself of what Yrael said; cat nature takes over.

Oh no, Teja! You're under attack! Something has hold of your tail!

The black cat turns - and cannot!

He tried to roll up, his flexible spine turning far enough so his paws can bat at the white cat.

The white cat steps back from the batting, letting go of the tail as he backs up. Quickly, he feints to the left then pounces!

The black cat bunches up and tackles the white cat as he lands.

This would not be a matter for security yet.

Of course not.

The white cat uses the black cat's momentum as they land, kicking up with his hind-legs. It's a move intended to send one's pouncer tumbling head over heels.

At least Yrael does it relatively gently! This isn't a battle, more a cat version of sparring.

When you're a cat, you can turn over and over, hanging on with your front paws and kicking with with your hind leg, without being harmed; on the contrary, it is exhilarating.

You can be very fierce and wild, as a cat. That's why they have their 'crazy half-hours', the black cat finds.
