[OOM: Some day, your story will be here, too.]
There is no bright light or sudden noise that signals the return of three heroes and a little girl. In their minds they may not see themselves as such, but the little girl does. They've seen what she has seen now. They know the Old Kingdom- they've touched it.
But the question is did they see the warnings?
Mary looked up at Nathan as she held his hand as the group returned back to Milliways. Bill and Doc were no where to be seen, no doubt waking up from wherever they had left their living bodies at for a dreamless sleep. Or had their trip to the Old Kingdom been a dream? "He can't follow us here," she says softly, releasing Nathan's hand as the burns start to fade away leaving him to return to a more 'solid' state. "None of them can."

"You sure about that?" That doctor did creep him out.

Looking down at her feet she shuffled them slightly refusing to look back up at the man beside of her. "I'm sorry he hurt you..He can do bad things, but then he has to go back to his room after."

"Whoa, hey, shh, shh. It's ok. I'm fine now. Tougher than I look. You did really well back there."

Then, quieter than before, she spoke again. "You have to keep that paper safe until Antubis says we have to take it back. It's important."

Nathan crouched down by her, briefly noticing the folder still in his hand. "I'll ask Bar for a small safe. Fireproof one, it'll be safe there."

Those blasts of energy that missed them? No dout there was something destroyed- a wall, a blown out door- somewhere on that same floor of the New Kingdom. For every action, would be a good statement to bring to mind.
"You have to keep it safe. What the Doctor Stegman did was just as bad as the Doctor."
no subject
"Don't worry, it'll be safe. I promise." And when it comes to a Petrelli and a promise? It's kept.

That made her uneasy and why she always tried not to make Paul mad. Paul did those sorts of things just for pure cause of it. "And the voices..."

"They don't mean to. They just do."

She loomed in the shadows.

It was different- not like Paul, the Doctor, or the other lost souls that walked the corridors of the Old Kingdom. Truth be told Mary didn't know what it was that was there in the shadows she had taken so well to.
Instantly a hand sliped up grabing ahold of one of Nathan's, her breath hanging infront of her like a cloud of mist. She was scared.

"It's ok. Nobody's going to hurt you. We got you away from them."

Why was this other, older being protecting her? Was she not dead? Rem could not see the child's lifespan. The man's was there, oh yes it was there.
no subject
"Not them.." she spoke softly, peering around Nathan's leg and pointing straight at Rem. "Her."
no subject
"All right, stay close to me. The rules still exist around here."
no subject
"How did you know, little one?" asked Rem, "That I am female?"
Yes, the rules apply to even Rem.

"And we're asking the questions here. What are you?"

She tried a kind smile, and failed completely.

Mary quickly ducked back behind Nathan's legs and staying close. She almost wanted to call out for Antubis though she knew he wouldn't be there. He hadn't found a way to Milliways yet.
"I...I'm a time keeper," she gulped slightly daring another peek out at Rem.

She looked a the man defiantly.
"Why is your lifespan changing so much?" she asked.
no subject
He sized her up, "So what are you, another kind of ghost here?" He was gripping Mary's hand tightly, and gave her a reassuring squeeze.

She tilted her creepy head, "Why are you so hostile?"

What 'it' could be ranged in various items or places when dealing with the undead. Tensions were still rather high.
no subject
He glanced at Mary, "You're sure she's not like anything back in the Old Kingdom?"

Turning dark eyes back to Rem she tilted her head to the right a little still holding onto Nathan's hand. "Bad people."
no subject
"All right, but it's been a very long night. And we need to rest. This is not the time to deal with this."
He only nearly died again. At the hands of one of the bad spirits after all. Enough to put anybody tense and on edge.

"If only I had my DeathNote, I could help you with these humans," murmured Rem, "I do not like children being hurt."
Yes, she was already dead but she was aloud to care.
"You both should rest then," said Rem with the tone of a mother.

At the mention of being tired Mary squeezed Nathan's hand a little before nodding her head. "I need to go back soon.."
