Telemain hasn't been in the bar in months. Which is why he doesn't expect his door to open to it, which is why he doesn't look up from the book he's reading while he walks, which is why he collides with a chair.

"Oh my," he manages, a few long moments later when it's all sunk in.

"'Eventually' is what you always say in this sort of situation. What are you reading this time?"

(OOC: This will almost certainly require slowtime in about an hour, but I had to. XD)

"Abraham Ellis's old publication. You're welcome to borrow it when I'm done."

It's kind of too grand a theoretical book to be really practical, but it has interesting ideas and it's hard to come by.

[ooc: and I am very glad you did.]

"I might take you up on that. If I've ever run across a copy, it's been some time."
Which means... she probably hasn't, actually.

"It's not very... sensible." He feels like he has to warn her.

"But it is interesting. Have you had any trouble with wizards recently?"

"Theory is rarely sensible. I dare say I'll survive the attempt. And no, I haven't - only trouble with the cats being particular, but that's hardly news."

"That's because you have too many cats," Telemain points out, oh-so-helpfully.

"I do not. I have exactly the right amount."
It's not really an argument, by now. It just is.

As evidenced by the fact that he has to try very hard not to laugh.

"And they're all well, I trust?"

"Oh, they are. Just... very much themselves. Fiddlesticks is rather curious about this place, but letting him in would only end in disaster."
For one thing, he just might run the place out of fish, somehow.

"I would expect nothing less. And how are you occupying your time?"

It's been far too long. Telemain is not up on his social thingies enough to translate this feeling into 'seek out Morwen more often' but he has a faint air of puzzled regret to him.

"Gardening, mostly. Entertaining the occasional visit from Kazul, when she has time. You could come and find out for yourself, you realize."
Or possibly he doesn't. But that's why she's pointing it out.

"I will."

He's actually just devised a strategy to remember to. One that might possibly actually be effective.

"You should come visit me. If you can leave the cats."

...See, now you went and got the narration curious.
"They're capable of taking care of themselves, for all they complain about it afterward."

He plans on possibly either writing in the margins every one hundred pages or so to 'go see Morwen,' or putting papers into the older, more important books that don't already have notes scribbled all over them.

Whether he remembers this five minutes from now is another question, but!

"I met someone here who knew you, this afternoon. Dee- something with a D."

It could work, if he remembers to implement it.
"...Dominic? It's been a while, but I haven't met many people who would be 'something with a D.'"
Process of elimination.

"That's him." It figures, that she remembers weeks, months later, and he can't recall back to this afternoon.

"He was very interesting. A professor, you know."

Well, one of them has to have their head on straight.
"I imagine the two of you got to talking theory." And there's that amused tone again. But Dominic had at least seemed like someone who would be able to keep up with Telemain - and that can be crucial.

"Yes. And it's very refreshing to do so with someone who actually has a solid background in magic."

It's difficult, stopping to explain yourself all the time.

"Even magic that operates on different principles?"
Well, if he'd use smaller words the first time, he wouldn't have to stop and explain himself as often.
But that's an old argument. (And it still is an argument, of sorts.)

One he may not be too keen to have with her, having actually lost a friend over a fight about language.

He's still kind of upset about that, actually, which is why he's resolutely not thinking about it.

"Yes. And educational. You can learn a lot about what something is merely by pin pointing exactly what it is not."

She wouldn't take it to that extreme, largely because Telemain fails at taking care of himself without the aid of constant prodding (and really, who else would do that?). But then, she can keep up with him.
By dint of a lot of practice, yes, but she can keep up.
"Naturally. And some of the terminology changes are rather interesting, as well."

(OOC: And this is where I need to call slowtime; I'm definitely up for continuing as I'm available tomorrow.
We totally need to do this more often. XD)

It was more a case of a young person disliking being corrected.

A lot. And a fairly evil young person, though Telemain was a little too naive to see so. It was probably for the best.

"I didn't talk with him long enough to get a sense of it."

[ooc: yes, absolutely! Catch you later, and I think we should launch some Plot or whatnot, because it has been forever and a day]

"I'd meant more the general sweep of terminology in here. Virtually everyone else I've talked to whose world has some form of magic doesn't consider wizards as much of a nuisance."

(OOC: ...Whatever this Plot may be, I feel like the cats should play a crucial role. They would be smug forever and it would also be hilarious.)

"In my experience, that's merely a question of definitions. Our criteria for the difference between a wizard and a magician are specific and important, whereas in most alternate realities a wizard practices enchanting and the like, and a magician is a peddler of tricks and slights of hand."

Telemain sounds a bit put out by this. It's an irritating assumption to correct over and over. He doesn't even own a deck of cards.
