There is a tarot card by the bar, smoking a cigar and drinking scotch.

Seeing all the little people bustle about their business like ants is always such fun!

Mia would come over but, since the test wasn't much help at all, she's not sure it would be a good idea.

Cigar smoke would be bad for the hypothetical baby!

So she glances over at Tower before looking back at her oh-so-thrilling plate of roast ant.

It's happened before, but it's been a while since such a huge potential change has had her so shaken up before.

Tower grins at her. "I still don't bite!" he calls, chuckling. "I already have scotch -- it bites back!"

"It's not you; it's your cigar," she calls back.

"What about it?" Tower calls, grinning sharkishly.

Ah-HAH!

"You didn't ming before now!"

"And if it was just me, I wouldn't, but you know far better than I do that things can change."

Ah-HAH indeed!

Tower stubbed out his cigar and wandered over.

"Thank you. I did want to talk."

Anything that would take her mind off of the grisly plate of ant in front of her.

Tumnus keeps looking towards the door and wondering as he coughs a bit at the cigar.

"Does nobody like my cigar tonight?" Tower says, mock-pouting.

"N.no, its quite nice just surprised me was all."

"Don't they do that in your world, little faun?" Tower asks.

[friend_of_lucy]

"My father smoked a pipe."

[destroy_restart]

"He no longer does, then?"

The story would come up by that little corner, Tower feels.

Harbinger of sudden, drastic change meet anthropomorphic personification of sudden, drastic change.

It's the meeting you've all been waiting for yes, you have, you there in the audience—stop saying you haven't.

"Like ants"? Aren't they basically ants? Once you get down to it?



Just so you know, he's over there in the Darkened Corner™, being all foreboding and doom-y and basically himself.

Of course they are -- what is the different between a human and an ant, compared to the scale of the universe?

But for the tarot -- seriously, the humans make the more interesting stories.

Tower notices the brooding machine creature over in the dark corner; he finds it rather fascinating.

Or the scale of planets, but that's still part of the scale of the universe.

Humans. Hmph. Pathetic creatures. Except for multiverseal singularities, pretty much all species—intelligent or otherwise—are.

He's watching the smoke-producing creature now.

At its heart, it represents much of what he does. In some overarching way.

Tower wanders over.

"You have problems with corrosion much?" he asks, conversationally.

Only his mun can stop him from taking a finger and using it to shove that cigar down Tower's throat.

NO. DO YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH ASH AND INEBRIATION?

"No," Tower says. "They're not problems. If something burns, there is ash; through the ash, new life rises."

"Ya can smoke a stogy in here?!?" Ben asks in excitement.

"I can smoke anywhere!" Tower says, proudly.

Fear, shock, curiosity, Ben's seen it all when people first met him but no reaction? That's rare and the surprise on Ben's face shows it.

"Got a spare by any chance? An ya mind if I join ya? Name's Benjamin Grimm," he says offering his hand.

"Of course I do!" Tower says, producing one from his breast pocket, and handing it over. "Do you want a light as well?"

Beat.

Then, he shakes his hand. "I'm Tower," he offers. "The tarot card. You'd expect me to look like masonry with a name like that, but actually, I rarely do."

Ben takes a deep breath of the cigar smoke and says, "Nice. Now there's somethin'. The Tower? I'll take yer word for it; other wise I'd have no idea what ta think. Ya get folks askin' fer their future lots?"

"Of course I do," Tower says. "It's not always nice, though. Really, mostly, it's not. I'm the card of sudden violent change -- of something that has to be destroyed before the new thing can be started again. People get that a lot from me."
