There is a sign in the bar, on a central table; that gives a view of the entire place:
New to Milliways?
Questions? Problems?Ask me.
Sitting at the same table is a Slayer cleaning out the inside of her blaster pistol, with the bored kind of expression that doesn't suggest she really wants to be asked about the bar, but is making herself have the sign anyway.

He's certainly got enough of a surprised look of recognition going on in Mel's direction, at any rate. He's still trying to decide if it's worth walking up to her, though.

She's currently completely oblivious.
When a small piece of red metal sproings out of the gun and flies in his general direction, then she looks up, and nods at him.

"Hi, Mel. Nice...nice gun."
He hopes it's a gun. One never knows, around here.

Puzzled pause.
"We met?"
no subject
"We met when I was nine."
Looks to be about 20 years ago, for Ned.
"You signed my book, after I asked you whether or not you were dead."

Rutting Milliways. Mel nods, holding her palmout for him to drop the spring into. It's easier that way.
"Hey, Ned. "How'd growing up work for you?"
no subject
"It went alright. I finished school and just opened a pie shop."
Aaaaaaaand brought a dead childhood sweetheart back to life.
Ned glosses over the details; he's already been chastised enough for it.

"...not meat pies?"
That's a thought she didn't need.

"So when can I try your pies?"
no subject
"That depends on a couple of things. Either you wanting to visit, me bringing a pie back for you, or me making one here.
"Also, you'd have to tell me what it is you do and don't like, especially if I end up bringing one back for you."

"Excuse me, but do you have any advice on what I might do for extra money around here."
His TSAB card is for use inside the Bureau, bars at the end of time? Not so much.

"Kids are all covered on my tab," she says.
no subject
"Thank you, but I think I might need to start a few projects."
He lets the magic circle form between them.
"I have suspicions about how to get unBound. My name is Yunno and my family name is Scrya."
Then he bows, politely.
no subject
"Mel Fray," she replies, before adding: "That kinda thing can backfire, trust me."
no subject
It's either that or a blind teleport. Those rarely end well.

"I mean, sometimes whatever-it-is controls the door here doesn't like people messing with it. People died when I tried, and I had a god doing it."

"The person I talked to before mentioned that it seems people have to accomplish things before being able to leave. A Device make my magic easier to cast, more reliable to use and generally better. They're also tricky to to put together and require unusual components."
Especially the good ones.
"I work better with the right tools. Well, would you offer any general advice then?"
no subject
"Door opens when it opens. Best thing to do is just settle down and see if Bar won't give you what you need to make your device."

Most drinking establishments don't carry superconductive busbars, but who knows.

If she ever finds out who's been telling people that Bar doesn't give out weapons, she'll... probably thank them for the business opportunity.

"Alright then, planning comes first anyway," paper, pens, calculator... , "They aren't something you want to wing."
Self-repair options and a magical Von Neumann machines are disturbingly close in design.
