Bartending yesterday was a blast. Meeting some of Bart's friends even more so. It was, in fact, worth the embarrassment of her sort-of-kind-of-maybe-not-friend-but-something-more finding out about a certain book that had led to all of the brilliance.
Today, the young Timelady-in-training can be found by the fireplace with the same book. Her legs are curled up underneath her and she chews on her pencil's eraser as she reads through chapter one, "Thoroughly Modern Dating."
Her list of questions, so far? Is a mile long.

[ooc: gone for a few hours, as of 6 pm est. slowtime please, and new tags still welcome.]

"They've written a guide to that?"
He wishes he'd had one when he arrived in Bar.
no subject
"Yeah. It's, um, not all that helpful so far."
She still hasn't gotten her answer to the why yet.

That's right, Hercules, Lion of Olympus and Prince of Power doth come and sit by the fireside himself.
He's back in his usual skirt-sash-sandals ensemble today.
He gives Jen a happy smile and nod in greeting.

And blinks, confused.
"Isn't that female clothing?"
no subject
"Twas perfectly manly attire for many years!" he says.

So much so, in fact, that he almost sits on Jenny. Fortunately, he realizes there's someone behind him at the last second and shifts, ending up flopped immediately to her side, instead.
"Oops...sorry!"
no subject
"It's okay!" Look, he has a book too! "What are you studying?"
no subject
That question earns a noisy giggle, and he holds up the little volume. A picture of a handful of Japanese high school students in various states of weird hair-color and outfits with a pair of giant robots looming in the background graces the cover.
"It's not really studying - it's just a comic. What about you?"
He leans over to try to get a look at the cover of her book, figuring that it must be something like a school textbook. Or maybe something more exciting, like a big book on magic or supercomputers or stuff like that.
no subject
Those weird hair colours are kind of fun! "What's a comic?"
no subject
"You've never seen a comic before? It's - it's kinda like a book, except instead they draw what happens, and they put the words in little boxs and word bubbles."
To demonstrate, he opens the booklet, holding it out and displaying the page he's on. The page seems to depict an average math class suddenly being interrupted by a GIANT ROBOT HAND OF DOOM!!! coming through the classroom wall. The text, of course, is all in Japanese.

Look, there's no point in practising if you don't do it properly.
She wonders to herself if the girls at Wyverly get taught this kind of thing these days.

"Hello?"
no subject
"My apologies," she murmurs, "The title of your book simply struck me, rather. Forthright, isn't it?"
no subject
"I guess?"
no subject
"It certainly looks more direct than ettiquette lessons," she says, wondering if maybe she shouldn't see to something of the kind for Ellimere. "Is it... helpful?"

"Is it helping?"

"Not entirely."

Jo took a pull of her beer, still draped back with no real inclination to move yet.

She waves a hand around impatiently, shrugging all the while. "Like... um... I think it was boyfriends and girlfriends and that sort of situational concept?"
