LIFE SUPPORT

Open to all

It's the alternate Tuesday, so the tables and chairs are set out in a quiet corner of the bar. New people still stressed with the strangeness of Milliways, people with problems and needing someone to vent to, people who just want a quiet place and a free meal, all are welcome.

Food consists in varied juices in thermos and sandwiches,: ham, grilled cheese, and vegetarian. For people with more exotic tastes, there are paradoxes too. Board games and jenga are available as well, if someone needs a distraction; soothing music is playing too.

Scarlet does a last check of the preparations, and nods to herself.

It is time to help people.

...eh, why not. He's got problems, sort of, and you can't go wrong with free food.

One mutant, heading over to take a seat.

"Cookie?" asked Tegid. He is in his usual iron age get up, and has a harp with him too.

"I'd love one," says the Squirrel. "You got oatmeal, or the peanut butter kind?"

Free cookies. Even better.

Tegid's eyebrows knit as the translation confused him.

"Um.. I don't know," he said and offered a tray that had the usual 21st century cookies along with some oat cakes from his own time, "Do you see them here?"
theflyingsquirl: (hand)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-23 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Ooooh," he says, and snags an oatmeal and a peanut butter cookie. He breaks the oatmeal one into smaller pieces and drops one of the pieces into his shirt pocket.

"Thanks. So, uh... what do we do here? Just eat?"
penderwydd: (laugh)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
"You are supposed to talk," said Tegid, "work things out."

Of course this is a translation of what he said.
theflyingsquirl: (hand)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-23 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Talk about anything?" he asks, taking a bite of the other cookie. "Anything at all, or just... you know, relationship stuff? I don't have any of that. Unless I'd be expected to talk about that."
penderwydd: (serious)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
"The last time I was in this circle," explained Tegid, "I was blind, and was dealing with issues in my own world, you know end of the world issues."

Tegid grinned, "Talk about what bothers you."

"...well, there's a few things," he admits. "No end of the world business, but stress with work, and... you know? Sometimes you just want some time away. But it's not the kind of job you can just take vacations from. It takes over your life."
penderwydd: (Default)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
"yes," said Tegid nodding offering the boy a glass of milk.

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-23 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
He takes it with a nod of thanks, and offers a packet of sunflower seeds in return. "I'm supposed to be in charge, you know? I'm the one running the campaign. But it's a lot of thankless work, taking care of everything, having to deal with Queenie's temper and never having a minute to myself except when I'm in here."
penderwydd: (thought)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Tegid accepted the seeds and looked at the packet.

He nodded. He knew all about that. Sometimes, though, it's best to stay silent.

He turned the packet over wondering what to do with it.

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-23 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
"I went into my line of work so I wouldn't have to work," he continues. "Not if I didn't want to. I've got everything I need, life's comfortable, it's just... I wanted something to do, and I've certainly got that now."

He sips the glass of milk.
penderwydd: (laugh)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Tegid listened as he squeezed the bag of seeds and they exploded everywhere.

Tegid grinned.

"Oh, the children would love this," he said.
theflyingsquirl: (grin)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-23 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Birds do too," he says with a chuckle. "And my fellow squirrels, of course. If I hadn't already given Ginger some cookie, she'd be all over that right now. You're supposed to eat 'em, though."
penderwydd: (What)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh," said Tegid, "Squirrels?"
theflyingsquirl: (squirrel)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-23 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Like me," he says, "or... Ginger here."

He extracts a sleepy young squirrel from his shirt pocket; she curls up in his hand, wrapping her tail around his thumb.

"We eat a lot of seeds. Buy 'em by the case."
penderwydd: (Default)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
"You don't look like a squirrel," said Tegid.
theflyingsquirl: (squirrel)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-23 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Aside from the ears and tail and claws and teeth, not really," he says with a chuckle. "That's what happens, though. Cursed family, mutant kids."
penderwydd: (Default)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh," said Tegid, "So, this work you do..."

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-23 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"A bit of chaos, mostly. Shaking people out of their routines, making the world a more interesting place. Bringing the unexpected. In a very general sense. More specifically, more recently, I'm in politics."

The baby squirrel climbs up his arm and settles on his shoulder, watching the cookie he holds in his other hand, and plotting.

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Tegid smiled, "Do you find satisfaction?"
theflyingsquirl: (Default)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-23 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
"...I guess I do, yeah. I mean, it's hard work, and I get tired of that, but when you find something you're good at, and you enjoy it, the good usually outweighs the bad. And after the election I won't have to work quite so hard... but that's still a few months away, of having no time to myself."
penderwydd: (Default)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Then you will do well, little brother," said Tegid, "Soon you will have rest. And there is always Milliways."
theflyingsquirl: (profile)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-23 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
"With my luck, they'll find me in here," he says, and sips his glass of milk. "I'll be out back climbing trees or something and she'll come in all 'Squirrel! Our numbers are dropping in Texas and you need to fix that, right now!'"

He shakes his head. "When it's done, I'm taking at least a week off."
penderwydd: (Default)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Come to my world!" said Tegid with a laugh, "She won't find you there!"
theflyingsquirl: (grin)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-23 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
"What's it like there?" he asks. "You got nice trees? A lot of people don't realize how important trees are, but where would any of us be without 'em? Me, I'd be homeless."
penderwydd: (Default)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-23 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes there are trees, and my people live on artificial islands on a lake," he said.
theflyingsquirl: (grin)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-24 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Artificial islands?" he asks, impressed. "I heard they're building things like that overseas somewhere. I bet it stays nice and cool in the summer with all the water, huh."
penderwydd: (Default)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-24 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Crynogs have been around for a long time.

"It is a nice place," said Tegid, "It is well protected, and there is enough space for farming on shore, and the woods."

theflyingsquirl: (Default)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-24 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"I live in the forest, outside a city," he says. "I've lived in the city, but it's too noisy there, too many people around. Out in the forest, you can relax, you can do your own thing. It'd be nice to have a couple other people around, but just a couple."
penderwydd: (Default)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-26 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Tegid smiled.

"The guardian of our wood allowed us to build there," said Tegid, "I have seen him, not with my eyes, but with my second sight."
theflyingsquirl: (Default)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-26 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"What's he like?" he asks. "Some kind of god, or... something else? And do you always see things with second sight, or... what do you see? Ghosts and things?"
penderwydd: (Default)

[personal profile] penderwydd 2008-07-28 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I was blind once," said Tegid, "It helped me to see what was really going on."

He grinned, "The guardian looks like..."

(OOC well the mun has lost the damned book, and doesn't remember that part too well.)
theflyingsquirl: (Default)

[personal profile] theflyingsquirl 2008-07-30 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Was it magic that brought your sight back?" he asks. "Lot of people here have magic, it seems like."

(ooc: Not a problem, I can sympathize. *chuckle*)
