Mary Anne takes a seat at the bar just looking for a drink. What she gets is a huge slice of cake with a sparkler candle.
"Is it really..." She runs a hand through her hair. "Man, time flies."
So, who wants to help the birthday girl attack her cake?
[ooc: slowtime pretty much a guarantee with this one, folks. see this post for more details.]

"Well, hello."
Mary Anne swivels around on her bar stool to face him.
"And my birthday just keeps getting happier."
no subject
"Does it?" He looks at the slice of cake. "Just because of some sparkly cake? Now, now, Legs... don't tell me Moon is rubbing off on ya."
no subject
"It takes quite a bit more than sparkles to get me excited. As you should know."

"What've you been up to, hm? Besides charming my pants off."

The corner of her mouth twitches with the hint of further laughter.

She approaches carefully, drawn by what is probably curiousity.
Then--
"Hello."
no subject
Mary Anne grins. "Pull up a seat; it's good to see you."
no subject
"Yes."
Beat.
"You are okay?"
no subject
"Very okay. How about you? Belated congratulations on the promotion, by the way."
no subject
"I am okay."
Beat.
"Busy."
This next pause is longer.
"Thank you."
Then--
"I do not like paperwork."
no subject
She smiles at the comment about paperwork. "I don't know many people who do."
no subject
"You do not like it?"
no subject
"Haven't had that much experience with it, but when I have, I found it boring as hell."
no subject
"Happy Birthday? Does Bar usually do that?" She's never had a birthday in the bar herself so she didn't know.
no subject
"It's happened to me before, and to friends of mine. You want a bite?"
It is a very large slice of cake, after all.
no subject
"Just so you don't think I'm some random stranger looking for cake handouts, you know?"
no subject
"Gotta watch out for those kind of people. I'm Mary Anne," she says, shaking Kate's hand.
"Pleasure to meet you."

"Pushing three years, in and out of this place. You?"

"Sounds like the standard for this place. 'S the people that keep it worthwhile."

"Met some of my best friends here."
She holds up her left hand. "And my husband."
no subject
"Met my boyfriend here, along with a lot of friends myself. You might or might not know him. Will Scarlett?"
no subject
"Y'know, I have met him once or twice," she says eventually.
"He seemed like a really nice guy. How long have you two been together?"
no subject
"He really is. And well, we started going out around November-December..." Some quick mental calculating, "So it's been around nine months now?"
no subject
"Good for you. It's always nice to hear this place can be responsible for more than spontaneous costume changes."
