Bored.

The Devil is bored. You can guess from how blatant she is about not being just another patron:

There is a book on the table, open, whose pages flip themselves. There is a bottle of champagne in ice, the bubbly liquid going down as the level of her glass rises. There is a chess set near and every few minutes, a piece moves by itself.

Bored, she is bored to tears or would be if she could cry. For once, Milliways has not provided a distraction. Yet.

Kate slowly approached, and her head tilted at her. Look, all demony free now. Sure Scarlet will be just *thrilled*.

"What's with all this?"

Scarlet glances up, and shrugs. "I am bored, my dear. Bored out of my skull. All of them."

"And you?"

"Practicing. Getting back into shape again."

Kate then sighed, "Didn't really get a chance to thank you at the time... for saving my life. But thank you. Never would have expected it from you to be honest."

"I am used to that, don't worry, I've had a few millenia of being blamed by every problem humanity creates." The book closes. "I think the part that bothers me the most is when people expect me to act like a two-bit, two-dimensional, C-movie villain."

"Well, you don't have the best rep, you have to admit."

"Dear, my reputation was established by men who declared women to be sub-human, filth to be the natural state of being... men who during the day sent people to death or prison for thinking too much and at night took the younger, prettier monks to their private chambers for 'special instruction'." The devil smirks. "And they have credibility, it seems."

"I know some people from even before Will's time were jerks and should be locked in a room with some armed members of NOW sure, among other groups."

Kate remarked, "Even though you do rule hell."

The Devil shrugs. "True. But if not me, who else? if you know someone who would like to take over, I am in dire need of a vacation."

"If I run into any volunteers, I'll be sure to send them your way. Probably be some dictators or some major villain like Galactus or somebody who'd be interested."

Here's a possible distraction Scarlet, in the form of a sheriff walking in looking rather pleased with himself.

With a yellow legal pad and pen in hand he plops down at a table nearby, ordering a beer from a passing waitrat then starts writing.

His smile doesn't falter until his order comes back as a glass of V8.

"Damn it. I hate this stuff."

That makes Scarlet's brows rise the slightest bit. "Good evening, Sheriff."

Turning at the voice he spots her and smiles.

Yes, he knows she's the devil. But he's in a good mood.

And, she was pretty nice last time.

He'll just be careful, that's all. Not that, that'll do much good since this is Bill, but he's still going to try.

"Hi. How's it goin'?"

"Bored. Tremendously so." The book closes itself, and the woman empties her champange glass. "And yourself, sheriff?" She must be really bored, not even trying to tease him.

"Great." He answers, pushing away the vegetable juice. "Doin' real great."

The smile he's wearing speaks a lot about just how great he's doing.

"Didn't know the Devil got bored." He notes a second before he realizes he's saying it outloud.

"Oh, dear... ask yourself this, if you had to exist for millenia watching humanity blundering about and blaming you for their mistakes, you would most certainly be bored or enraged often." The pieces move in the chess set.

"Yeah, I guess I see your point." He nods.

"So ... what does the devil do for fun then?" He really hopes he's not going to regret asking.

"Oh, just the normal things everybody does. But here, everybody seem to expect me to act like some two-bit, two-dimensional C-movie villain..." She smirks, shaking head. "So, even Milliways ends being dull. I can not even ask for a dance, a bit of romance, without being eyed like a predator held behind brittle cell bars."

Try a not so young but not blue Raziel caressing her cheek with a gentle claw.

Oh, see, raziel knows exactly how to make a Devil smile. And pull him into a kiss. "Hello, dear... I have missed you."

"You have?" he asked with a wry smile, "I thought you only liked me fro the sex."

The mun is facepalming.. why oh why is he being so blunt?

"And? I am not allowed to miss very good sex, dear?" After all, she is the Devil; any of the seven deadly sins can be enjoyed.

"Well, then, I guess that makes two of us," purred Raziel, "So, do you prefer to take the form of a woman?"

"Hmm... I am a woman, dear. I can take on other froms, but this is natural." She winks, patting a seat beside her for Raziel.

Raziel slid in the seat.

He grinned.

"You have a male form as well?" he asked, "That is indeed interesting, but you are female, did you choose this?"

"Oh, yes I do. Or rather, several. I can be anything, anyone I wish to be, anytime I wish to." She leans to Raziel. "I just prefer this one."
