It is a highly comical sight.

Hercules is bandaged heavily. So heavily, in fact, he looks like a mummy. But with his head mostly uncovered (some band-aids are plastered across his face, however).

He attempts to drink from a large mug, grasping it between both hands (since his fingers are wrapped together, like big bandage mittens). It doesn't go so well.

"Blasted sea beast! Perhaps my ideas of penance were misplaced!" he curses.

"Maybe you should try using a straw," Zoe suggests, watching him from her spot at the bar.

"Aye, tis a good idea," Hercules says. "What be they name, dainty lass?"

"Zoe Carter," she says, amused by the way he's speaking.

"And I am the mighty Hercules," he says. "Though today I doth not feel so mighty."

"You look like you lost a fight with a truck, mighty Hercules," Zoe says.

"I didst not lose," Hercules harrumphs. "I killed her before. I could have easily bested her if I didst choose."

"Wait, you got beat up by a girl?" Zoe says, clearly amused as she takes in Herc's obvious injuries again.

"Doth a great sea beast count as a mere girl?" Hercules says.

Zoe considers this. "Hmm. Probably not."

X, whose nostrils flare at the smell of injury, approaches him very carefully.

"You are okay?"

She will show him the infirmary if he is not. Some worlds do not have very good medical treatments.

Or so she hears.

"I am immortal," Hercules says. "I shall be fine in time."

"Oh."

X studies him, scenting the air carefully.

Just in case she ever meets other immortals.

"That is good."

Beat.

"You heal quickly?"

"Tis true," Hercules says. "Not as fast as some, but still quite well."

X stands there for a little while longer, silent and slightly awkward.

Then--

"I am X-23."

Introductions are a good way to start a conversation, right?

She's practicing.

"I am Hercules, son of Zeus and Prince of Power," Hercules says. "I wouldst shake thy hand, but I currently cannot."

"It is okay."

X seems serious about that.

"I do not mind."

She scents the air again, considering.

Then--

"You have been here before."

"I make this place a second home," Hercules says. "Mine Olympus at the end of the Universe."

"Hercules? What happened?" Kate was coming in from archery practice out back and noticed him.

"Do you need any help?"

"I will be fine, fair Hawkeye," Herc says. "I merely ran into an old enemy."

She looked him over. Had to be rough for whatever would hurt *him*

"How old and how bad?"

"Scylla, the sea monster," Hercules says. "I... slew her."

"Not here was it?"

"The slaying? Twas many centuries ago," Herc says.

"Oh... but you met her here, right? Just recently?" Long time to hold a grudge, but it's murder so... hmmm...
