In Enzo's defence, the pink thing at the end of the Bar has been inert lately. He really didn't think it a problem to go to that end for an order of chips.

Oh, how wrong he was.

He realizes his mistake as the music begins and he starts dancing involuntarily.

Thank goodness he hadn't picked up the chips yet.

"Oh. I don't think I know that story," Bumblebee says. "How did that one happen?"

Enzo's tone as he explains is recitative - he's only heard about this one himself, and seen the reenactments and a few old newscasts.

"A Webcreature got into Mainframe. It had portal-forming ability, and it made a really big one to the Web, and the other Webcreatures started to invade - I think Daemon made 'em do it. I dunno how, though. And the viruses helped us fight them, 'cause they lived in Mainframe too, right? Only just before they closed the portal, Megabyte threw Bob into this missile and shot him into the Web. And he took away his keytool so he couldn't make a portal back, and Mouse had made traps for Webcreatures so they couldn't make more portals to Mainframe..."

Bumblebee nods. "And he was exiled all of that time?"

"Uh-huh. He made me - I mean the first me, that's Matrix - a Guardian before it happened, but he was real new to it so Megabyte started taking over the system anyway. And then Matrix and AndrAIa got lost in the Games, so there wasn't any Guardian in Mainframe at all."

Megatron's treachery had been his subversion of the defense forces and the equivalent of the police until his separatist divisions were so dangerous the others might not as well exist; still, the situations are none too dissimilar. Bumblebee nods. "Unpleasant," he murmurs. "How did your people overcome it?"

"Well, Dot was commander, and she fought him, but he still took over the Principal Office, and she had to hide with the rest of the good guys. They kept fighting back 'til Bob and Matrix and AndrAIa came back with the pirates."

Bumblebee nods. "Pirates?" he asks.

Enzo nods. "Captain Capacitor and his crew. He's called the Crimson Binome. They used to be real pirates, but Dot showed 'em how they could make more money doing regular business, and they worked together after that. His old ship was the Saucy Mare, but it got wrecked fighting Megabyte, but Dot's people built him a new one, it's called the Ada's Revenge. We launched it for my birthday!"

"Congratulations," says Bumblebee solemnly. "You could do much worse than to have sensible pirates on your side."

Nobody, nobody, can keep a straight face like a Cybertronian.

Hey, statement == true. Enzo nods vigorously. "They got rid of the ABCs so the ground troops could take back the Principal Office. And Matrix beat Megabyte and Mouse threw him into the Web, only then the system crashed, but the User restarted it, and that's when I got copied."

"That must have been a peculiar experience all around," Bumblebee says. "So this Megabyte is still out there?"

"I dunno." They do worry about this a bit... but not a whole lot. "He might still be processing, but the Web's real dangerous, and it degrades you if you don't have shielding or protective code. And the others only got back 'cause Bob merged with Glitch, so I dunno how Megabyte would get out."

Bumblebee nods. "Sounds like you have less to fear from him than we do from Starscream," he says. "Good for you."

"What's processing with Starscream?"

"After Megatron was killed, Starscream left the planet," Bumblebee says. "He always was ambitious. We believe he's gone out into the stars to look for any Decepticons who survived the fall of Cybertron, and unite them under his leadership now that Megatron is gone."

"Oh, man! That's like the neovirals, but way worse."
