As usual, Ianto is sitting at the bar with a cup of coffee and his diary.

If one were to peek over his shoulder, one would see the words, "Today is my birthday" written at the top of today's page.

But one wouldn't do that, would one? It's terribly bad manners.

Sam shrugs. "Yeah, I'm sure."

Beat.

"So, what else did you get?"

"Another cupcake," Ianto says cheerfully. "And boxer shorts. Silk ones."

Sam tuts. "Apparently I'm not really that imaginative. Still, it was on ten seconds' notice, so what can you do?"

Apparently he's not going to get to see the boxers. Ah well.

Nope, they are Eyes Only.

"I love cupcakes," Ianto assures him. "One was nice, two was splendid."

Hmph. Boring.

"Flatterer." Sam sticks his tongue out.

"Careful what you do with that."

Innocently, "Why?"

"Something might happen to it," Ianto says, quite innocent.

"Oh? But I thought we were on our best behaviour."

Of course, Sam's idea of 'best behaviour' is not necessarily the majority's.

Eyebrow.

"To careless tongues."

Innocent as an innocent thing.

"My tongue is never careless."

Sam is innocent like newborn lamb.

Ianto raises his eyebrows in the universal gesture of Oh, rilly?

Sam blinks innocently back in the likewise universal gesture of Moi?

Ianto would show him what happens to careless tongues, but he's trying to be more of one-man guy.

So he just smiles back.
