Dani's been in and out of Milliways lately, spending some time in Amity Park with her "cousin" and his friends. Why just recently she spent a day of "girl bonding" with Sam and Jazz.

And okay, she helped kick a few ghost butts while she was in town too.

Right now Dani's sitting in the bar, finishing up her dinner. She has no concrete plans for the evening, other than possibly going out for some zipboard practice later.

In other words, she's botherable.

Cal's sitting at the bar with something resembling an actual meal in front of him. He has a notebook open next to him, pages covered with various maze-like doodles and scribbled-out notes. He doesn't even know if any more ideas for Hex's maze are needed, but it's given him something concrete to think about that doesn't involve grief and despair, so he's kind of glommed on to it.

He'd be having a lot more success if he'd ever gotten into playing video games. He puts down the pen and sighs, rubbing his eyes.

From where she's sitting, Dani can't help but notice the notebook and the doodles therein. For a brief moment she contemplates going ghost and going invisible to sneak a peek. But that would be rude.

So, the direct approach it is.

"What'cha doing?"

Cal looks up and smiles. "Hi. Trying to figure something out for a friend. Not getting too far." He was never even that good at the maze puzzles in magazines. Except for when he was stoned and could spend hours staring at them. "You know anything about mazes?" he asks. Well, it's worth a shot. And she wouldn't ask if she wasn't curious.

"Not really," she answers truthfully. "This is for the maze that's supposed to replace Hex's jungle outside, right?"

"Yeah, me either."

Cal grins. "Yeah. Oh, hey," as a bit of conversation from way back during his first visit to Milliways worms its way forward in his memory. "You know Enzo?"

Dani can't hide a smile as she nods. "He's my boyfriend."

Some people have a filter between the brains and their mouths.

Cal - doesn't.

"How old are you?" Something here is not quite tallying up.

[OOC: Sorry for not tagging back earlier tonight. I had a fairly epic failure of memory.]

"Thirteen," she says without batting an eye.

It's surprising how easily the lie rolls off the tongue nowadays.

Interesting. Three years is a hell of an age gap at that age.

But - whatever. Physical age doesn't always mean much. It's not like there's a whole lot kids can get up to, anyway. Well. Not kids Enzo's age, at least.

"It's nice to meet you," Cal says, offering a hand to shake. "I'm Cal Chandler."

"Danielle Fenton, but my friends call me Dani," Dani says, accepting the offered hand. "Nice to meet you too."

"How long have you known Enzo?" Cal asks, returning to the topic they have in common.

Dani screws up her face in thought. "Gosh, it's been...a year? Year and a half, almost, I think? A while," she finally concludes, laughing.

Enzo ambles up, back in his natural form, snacking on digital candy with exaggerated "mmmmm" noises.

Don't you wish you could have some?

There's a female halfa looking at him out of the corner of her eye.

"Hey Enzo," she greets him. Trying to ignore the obnoxious snacking.

"Hi, Dani!" Nom nom nom. "Mmmm, these are goooood."

Immaturity is fun!

"What are they?"

So is pretending not to be too interested.

"Pixel Bites! They're new, the people who make Pixel Stix make 'em."

Flavoured syntactic sugar, now in chewable form!

"Sounds good."

Well, who can argue against that? (Aside from adults, that is)

"They are, they're..."

"They're what?"

Around the time Enzo had been about to mention what they are (a piece of information Garion certainly didn't have), the Rivan King made his entrance. He gave a short wave to Enzo as he did, but he seemed a little distracted as he made his way to the counter.

Dani may never find out what they are, because Enzo calls "Garion!" and waves back. "C'mon!" he tells Dani, and heads in the king's direction.

"Okay." Dani shrugs; she'll get the answer eventually. "Where are we going?"

Garion is in the process of ordering a chocolate shake when he notices that Enzo is coming over and with a friend.

He greets them with a nod.

"You'll see!"

On arrival: "Garion, this is Dani! Dani, this is Garion, he's a friend of Bob and Dot's. He's a king! But he doesn't like it."
