She's sitting at a table, tapping the blunt end of a dagger against a coffee mug. You don't worry about people, not here, don't become attached to them. You never know when someone will walk out that door and never return; so if she hasn't seen people in a while, it's nothing important. Simply thinking about those lost friends can be an exercise in itself, though not a particularly helpful one.

Clink. Clink. Clink.

Those thoughts breed apathy.

There is no way in hell anyone could mistake Miniver for someone sober tonight.

He'd gone two months. Two LONG months. But this was too much.

He's staggered awa from his friendly booze source, smelling of weed and whiskey, and is on the hunt.

He has his wand in his hand.

His eyes dart through the crowd. His expression twists his face into something wholly unlike himself.

He's hunting...

After all, you don't get into the evil geneticist business if youre not interested in people.

Matt Parkman is in the bar with a bowl of donuts.

Yes, you heard us right, Bowl, as in major table fixture, and donuts, as in baked goods with a hole in the middle. And Matt is currently under a mental command to eat those donuts.

So. He's sitting at the bar with his bowl and a cup of coffee. Life is so much easier when you're a telepath. At least he knows he's being screwed with.

That doesn't change the compulsion to eat them. Which means that if you don't tag him soon he'll start looking for people to forcibly feed them to.

Zhaan feels much better today than she did yesterday. Her eyes have returned to their normal placid blue, and she no longer feels like she has to struggle with herself simply to move, or get herself through the day. She spent much of yesterday doing something mental. With her renewed energy, she can take a much-needed respite in something physical.

So Zhaan is outside, in a flat area close to the lake, wearing a simple tunic and trousers. She's doing forms in a style that looks a lot like Tai Chi - the old-fashioned, puts-the-martial-in-martial-arts kind - mixed with the blocks and grabs of Wing Chun and the precise, short-arm jabs of Praying Mantis.

A human who is knowledgeable about these things would probably consider her to be very, very good, perhaps even a master. Delvians, though, have much, much longer lives in which to practice and perfect their skills, so in her own view, Zhaan is no more than reasonably proficient.

She's been practicing for a while, probably long enough that she wouldn't mind an interruption.

Jim sat in thought, in civvies today. Tomorrow, he would be reporting once again to Earth Spacedock, for a formal tour of his new ship. He would commence shuttling back and forth from the ship to Starfleet Command, selecting a senior staff, overseeing a thousand details, coping with the bureaucratic minutiae. He was looking forward to all of it.

If only things could be different with Antonia. The end of the affair left him, if not sad, wistful and a little nostalgic. There would be a few lonely nights, as there had always been in his first tour of duty. There would be times he would hope to tell something to her, and she'd be far away and in another life. If only...

Jim, however, was not one to dwell on the "if only" of life. No, he was looking forward to being in the command chair tomorrow. Even if perhaps he was looking backwards to a fateful horse ride in Idaho.

Come say hello to the captain.

Belar's not going much of anywhere today. The Dorbed are getting ready for one of the most celebrated athletic festivals in Mongolia, and for that they mostly invoke their ancestors. As for the Alorns, well, it's springtime and hoo nelly are there a lot of requests out there- too many to sort through them all from Earth, that's for darn sure. So Belar is here, at a nice comfortable table not too far from the Observation Window, with a sign up reading ANSWERING PRAYERS - BACK IN 15 MINUTES. It decrements every ten seconds or so, counting down to zero.

After drinking with Pickles, it takes Will a little longer to get out of bed in the morning since he now has a hangover to add to his various aches and pains and with a little less limping, but still aching he winds up on a couch by the fireplace.

He grabbed a blanket from the infirmary and has a pot of weak tea on a nearby table, but ended up falling back asleep as soon as he lay down. Since if he's asleep then he won't worry about the mess with Kara, hopefully, his dreams have other things to say since Will is not sleeping peacefully. The nightmares are back with a new twist, another blonde face to sneer at him and give a different sort of pain, wake him before they get worse.

Harry has been entirely too smug the past day or so for some reason, and it's irritating Annie; well, she'll deal with that as best she can. Right now she just wants a break from her husband's version of I-know-something-you-don't-know. She's got her tea, and she's got a seat by the fire, but she's also on a whim acquired an earthenware crock and filled it with a quantity of flour and water. "Excuse me," she says to one of the wait-rats. "I don't suppose you could take a note to Bernard or Mikey for me? I'd like to talk to them about leaving this here for a while..."

Belle is in bar again. And this time, she's a bit less twitchy. Still armed, mind, and still somewhat dangerous, but she's ordered a coffee, having found out that caffeine is good. There is also a bowl of chili and a packet of cigarettes.

There is an Ace, in the bar, despite rumors to the contrary that she never leaves her TARDIS. She is, most uninterestingly, filling out paperwork. Despite everything else, she's still a very recently graduated Time Lord, and needs to send reports in to Gallifrey every so often to keep them satisfied that she hasn't gone rogue or something.

Generally, she thinks there's a paperwork-eating monster somewhere in the lower levels that they feed this all too. But that's not a question one asks of those in power, no.

...

Also, people doing paperwork generally don't hum happily while they do so.

But she is, actually, a happy little pyro, sitting on the couch, doing paperwork, with a glass of something... fruity-looking on the side table.

What an odd duck.

Kyo is sitting at a table, looking through a book. It's a manga, and if one looks at the pictures/reads Japanese, it's a fighting manga to boot.

Pickles staggered in a hangover daze down the stairs and into the bar proper, yawning and scratching his head, muttering to himself.

Then he muttered to the bar, and she produced a lunch of a ham sandwich, with a cup of coffee, two asprin, and a shot of whiskey.

He took a seat in a booth and promptly dropped his head down on the table.

"Shouldnt'a had that last bottle of Jager. Ugh."

Melou is quite possibly never going to agree to babysit again, because it seems whenever he does, they end up here. Which might not be a bad thing now that he thinks of it, because hey, people here likes babies don't they, and he can potentially get someone to help him. Or at least hold Rhoslyn for a while.

There was a lot of work ahead of her, but at least she had a start.

And more importantly, the start was looking like it was going to work. The last board she'd built, for all it was a board instead of a chip, hadn't blown up when she'd hooked up the power. Nothing else had happened, but... it hadn't blown up.

She was considering that a victory.

So now she had some more simulations to run on the next design. As soon as she was sure of the new design, anyway.

There's a pretty standard ritual when you're Bound - come in, check and see if you still are, and when it turns out you are, moodily go over to the Bar and order something.

(Though, the outcome tends to be the same even if you aren't Bound. Because it's still nice to get something from the Bar first.)

In any case, Behrooz is still Bound, though he probably should have come to that conclusion the third or fourth time he did this today. At the moment, he's moodily slipping into a seat at the Bar, and orders tea.

There's also some baklava. He'd grudgingly greatful for it.

Morning afternoon evening whatever finds Steerpike still curled up on the floor, having spent the night sleeping under the table of one of the booths, with his mouth half open and a soft snoring sound emanating from the vicinity of his head.

Robbie walks into the bar, loaded down with books and papers.

He frowns.

This wasn't where he'd intended to be, but Milliways does that sort of thing to one's schedule.

He goes with the change of venue as he does with everything in his life: with unsurprised poise and dignity. Robbie chooses a table and unloads his belongs, setting everything up just right before going to Bar and requesting ink and pen.

Even detours to the bar at the end of the universe required one to keep up their studies.

Robbie returns to his table and opens a large, rather dusty tome on the Greeks and their social society. He dives into it, reading and making quick, scrawling notations. He has a secretary now who transcribes those notes, so he no longer has to worry about the quality of his penmanship.

It's been quite some time since Cimorene has had a moment to slip away from hustle and bustle of the Mountains of Morning, so she's taken advantage of this evening's uncharacteristically light schedule and has ensconced herself in a booth with a glass of wine and a book. He doesn't seem to be particularly interested in the datapad. He spends more time people-watching than he does reading it.

Wesley comes down from the upstairs rooms, and doesn't break stride until he's reached Bar and ordered a double of Lagavulin.

It's not every day that you spend the afternoon in Asar-Suti's Library and come across a passage in the Scrolls of Marius like:

"...And so it is that the errant son shall prove a burden to the father. As the Seven Prophets have written, he shall stray from the path appointed to him. Treachery will be his companion, even as his closest allies prove false in his hour of need. Why, one might almost think the Prophets were speaking of you, Mr. Wyndham-Pryce...."

As a rule, former Watchers don't normally find themselves addressed by name in scrolls written several thousand years before they were born.

Wesley has the sinking feeling this is the start of something new and probably unpleasant...

This place is... very strange, to say the least. Nothing at all like any tavern back home in the Fire Nation, and definitely nothing like anything he's seen in the Earth Kingdom. And the people- well, he's been serving in the Fire Navy for as long as he can remember, so he's seen a lot of the world, but even Zhao has to admit that they come in more varieties here than he was prepared to admit existed before.

Strangers, and without any knowledge of him. That's not a particularly helpful thing. On the other hand, they're not especially likely to be hostile straight off, so there's that. And since he's still got the words of the Ocean Spirit ringing in his ears... bah. He'll find a way back, Spirit or no. Why, one of these strangers from some other world might know how to get around that blasted spirit's declaration (and give it a good taste of vengeance, as long as he's at it).

That's a prospect Zhao can live with, all right. The question is, of course, where to start...

[OOM: Miniver plays nurse.]

In theory, he knows it's not a great idea for him to show his face down at the bar. Unfortunately, Miniver is extremely hungover and slept less than an hour the night before, thus his thought processes are not exactly clear.

He knows how to care for Draco's injuries. He grew up learning intimately and repetatively all the ways one can be bruised and battered and how it feels and what helps. Other than booze. He does what he can. Draco is still asleep, deeply enough that Miniver feels he can leave him long enough to come downstairs for a little while.

He collapses into a bar stool and immediately a tall glass of water and a few asperin appear. He swallows the asperin, takes a few sips of the water, and puts his head down on his arm on the bar.

He might be asleep. Or might not. All are welcome to poke him to make sure he's not dead.
