Bill is downstairs after some breakfast. He sits down at the counter, and before he can even ask, Bar provides him with a loaded plate; eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, a short stack of pancakes, a cup of coffee and orange juice.

Bill grins at the offering, and is about to say thank you when a newspaper appears. Looking at the front page headline his smile falls.

Mardi Gras in Miami

It's not really the headline, but the part underneath that tells how the Saints defeated the Colts 31-17 in the Superbowl that's just killed his good mood.

Bill lifts the paper and shakes his head.

"Aw, c'mon, no. I didn't even know they were playin'."

Most of the time he's at Milliways, Shephard tends to fade into the background. If he's not doing PT or target shooting outside he's studying inside, or possibly drinking in an out-of-the-way area. This place might be an extended port of leave, but that's no excuse to stick his head up and cause trouble. He just gets on with preparing for whatever it is might be coming.

Off and on, though, he's been working on a few pet projects for quite some time now. Trapping outside, for one thing. Tanning the hides on the things he's trapped, for another- well preserved furs go a long way towards paying off Bar costs. And sometimes, working on making himself a set of archery equipment. He's no Robin Hood and he doesn't delude himself into thinking he ever will be, but he learned to shoot a basic stick-and-string as a kid, and he's done it on and off for most of his life. You never know what you might need to be able to do to survive, after all. Quite some time back, right after his first arrival at Milliways, he got hold of a bowstave from the Bar. He's been working on shaving and tillering that length of wood down into something acceptable to shoot with, and he finally got it to just the right shape and condition a while ago. He's reinforced the tips, inlaid the limbs with sinew, and wrapped the riser section with leather for an easy grip. The arrows took a lot of work, since he felt that part of the point of making his own equipment was to make even the arrowheads himself, but he got those done too. He's down to the last part now, which is working strands of flax into a string weighing three hundred grains or less. Tricky part, but he's almost got the hang of it.

Not that he wouldn't mind interruptions in the meanwhile, you understand.

Duo is sitting on the floor by the fireplace, print outs stacked in careful piles all around him. It's not usual for a digital-age kinda guy like him to have so much paper, but that's what legal cases get you. (It's harder to hack paper.)

He's also eating Meat On A Stick™. It's probably beef teriyaki, if you're feeling generous.
