Bill is downstairs after some breakfast. He sits down at the counter, and before he can even ask, Bar provides him with a loaded plate; eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, a short stack of pancakes, a cup of coffee and orange juice.

Bill grins at the offering, and is about to say thank you when a newspaper appears. Looking at the front page headline his smile falls.

Mardi Gras in Miami

It's not really the headline, but the part underneath that tells how the Saints defeated the Colts 31-17 in the Superbowl that's just killed his good mood.

Bill lifts the paper and shakes his head.

"Aw, c'mon, no. I didn't even know they were playin'."

Familiar perfume. "Hello, Bill." Familiar voice.

A kiss on the cheek, or aimed at his cheek. If Bill does something silly like whip his head around, the kiss might end landing somewhere indiscrete.

Not like The Devil would mind, but...

Bill is caught up in reading the part about Peyton Manning's interception, and so is distracted, giving only a glance over when he hears his name. This results in the kiss landing at the corner of his mouth.

Her lips pressing close to his snaps his attention back around and he pulls back quickly.

"Oh, hey! Sorry, I-- "

He shakes his head, trying to recover and pull his wits back together.

A soft, delicate laugh, and The Devil gives him a warm, tender hug. "Missed you, Sheriff... did you get my Holidays gift?"

His features start to warm with the hug as he gets a stronger whiff of her fragrance, then near bright red when she brings up his Christmas present.

"Uh, yeah, I did. Thanks, it uh... was nice of you."

It does not help that she settles against him a bit, then whispers in a mischievous tone. "And don't I get an actual hug back, Sheriff? I don't bite, you know that."

Bill laughs at her comment and finally returns the hug.

After knowing her so long, Bill has gotten mostly used to being around her, though it still always takes him a minute to straighten himself out after she sneaks up on him.

"How y'been?"

"Very well, I must say." Good Bill... as he relaxes, she relaxes and teases less. "But I missed you."

Come to think of it, when she is not trying to be a pest, The Devil gives very nice warm hugs.

"It's been awhile." Bill nods, pulling back and resettling on his seat.

"I been here, but haven't been around a whole lot."

She takes the next seat over. "Busy with your girlfriend? Or has she decided to make an honest man out of you yet?" Of course she will play a bit.

Bill ducks his head, color rising again.

"I been with her. We been stayin' here, lookin' after Boo an' stuff. Gettin' ready t'head home."

He takes a drink of his coffee, then corrects himself.

"I'm goin' home, Kate's comin' with me again."

There's a mixture of relief and guilt with that, but Kate's assured him it's okay, and he hasn't brought it up again.

A very blue Raziel sidled up to the bar where Bill sat.

"Who was playing what?"

Bill looks over at Raz and sighs, folding the paper back up.

"Colts made it to the Superbowl. Lost t'the damn Saints."

"I don't understand," said Raziel. Somehow he's managed to miss football.

[wheelsy_sheriff]

"It's a game in my world," Bill replies. Normally he's all about preaching the gospel of football, but, well, his team just lost the big game, and he didn't even know they were in it.

Picking up a piece of bacon (because bacon is a great distraction) he asks, "So what's new with you?"

"Nothing," said Raz.

Bill arches an eyebrow at the short answer, then shrugs it off.

"Nothin' is better'n bad things I guess."

He has no problem with the same old same, infact, he's been missing it, and ready to get back to it.

With Boo busy at a playdate upstairs, Kate enters the main bar in search of a pineapple smoothie.

Spotting Bill, she smiles to herself as she sidles up behind him.

Reading over his shoulder, "Uh-oh, sheriff."

Bill turns to look at her, holding the paper out in disbelief.

"They lost."

Seeing his heartbroken expression, she swallows a chuckle and presses a kiss to his shoulder.

"Maybe Bar's just having a little too much fun with you."

He looks somewhat hopeful, and folds the paper to hide the headline.

"Maybe she is. Wouldn't be the first time."

Although, the breakfast she gave him seems to be meant for consoling.

Finding a smile, he offers her his hand to lead her to a seat beside him.

"Y'hungry?"

She kisses his temple before she settles on the empty stool.

"Not hungry-hungry," she tells him with a soft chuckle. "I ate a little while ago upstairs, but I kind of want a -- "

Before she can finish, a pineapple smoothie appears on the counter.

"Thanks, Bar."

Bill tilts his head at her drink.

"That looks pretty good."

Which might be his oh so subtle way of asking for some.

A half-smile tugs at Kate's lips.

Wordlessly, she slides over the glass.

She may or may not want to see just how ridiculous he looks sipping from the purple curly straw.

After all the pink, and kitties, and glitter, a curly straw isn't much to Bill anymore, and he only hesitates slightly before taking a drink from it.

His eyes widen slightly, and he smiles around the straw as he sips.

"S'good."

"And healthy," she says, giving him a teasing nudge as she reclaims the smoothie. "Imagine that."
