OOM: The World We Live In.

Fury is out back doing sit-ups. Rather more specifically he's got his legs hooked over a tree-branch and is doing sit-ups from that position, curling up toward the sky until crossed arms touch his knees and then relaxing until his head is again pointed at the ground. His sword is hung within easy reach of him, and there are several knives strapped to visible portions of his body.

He has a modern shirt draped near his sword, as purple as his armor, but his boots and trews are proper garments for a man of his time and place. He only wears modern clothing when he must.

"No," Billy agrees. "But I mostly meant to ask about the political situation. You said you were trying to overthrow the government."

"Ah."

Fury switches gears, visibly,

"The Purple Man was elected as president some time ago and used his powers to secure himself as President for Life. After the death and resurrection of most of the heroes in the 1990's the world began to turn against them.

"A slow campaign against all those with powers began, leading to the current situation. The only hero left is Rojhaz." Fury isn't a hero. He's a spy, a spymaster, a warrior, and an assassin. "Genetic profiling keeps the Witchbreed from being born - with full families wiped out to ensure that they do not develop. The same removes most of those who are resistant to the power of the President for Life."

Billy's fists clench. "Maybe our worlds aren't so different. A few years ago a woman killed off sixteen million mutants, through the use of weapons called Sentinels. My -- a very powerful mutant wiped out all but two hundred of the rest." He kicks the dirt. "And a few years ago the government began requiring super humans to register their names and powers, and submit to a draft. It -- might be the end of heroes. It's what we're fighting against."

Fury nods, frowning slightly, "If there is a Fury there I would not risk attempting to join your war. What help I may offer from here is yours."

He doesn't approve of genocide.

Billy nods. "Thank you. I doubt I've been born or am alive in your world. So I can help there."

"Or are dead." Fury agrees, "Although I don't recall any information on someone by your name in the files we stole."

"That's a creepy thought," Billy says, quietly. "That there is another me, and he's dead."

"I have Nick Fury's obituary on my wall." Sir Nicholas agrees, "It keeps me on my toes - I can die. I have."

"Morbid," Billy says, in the tone of the fascinated. "But effective, I guess. Kate says I don't die. I'm not sure how far I can trust that."

"As far as your powers, wits, and body can take you." Fury says firmly, "Freedom of will and the splitting of universes means that trust the future only so far as you experience it. What is may always change."

"That's what I thought, too. Though I'm not sure how it would work out if I changed her past."

"You would create another universe." Fury says with a shrug, "That is how mine came into being."

"When we changed Kang the Conqueror's past, the our world corrected itself. Teddy and I stopped existing."

That does cause Fury to pause, and he frowns, "Care would be good, then. However I would still spend more time doing as you must than doing as you are told."
