Sep. 9th, 2012 10:07 amThis time around, Lucas is actually ready for what's to come.
Once he opens the door, it almost looks like he's about to jump into a pool. Unlike the cliff or the haystacks, this doesn't look very far away.
Heck, he might just do a cannonball.
Lucas turns and looks at Milliways. Even with what's been happening at home, this place has instilled some confidence in him. He has friends, a place that finds him no matter what happens. In a strange way, it's been feeling more like home than Tazmily has as of late.
"I'll be back soon," he calls to the bar with a smile.
And Lucas leaps through the door into the waiting water below.

Sep. 9th, 2012 11:42 am[Out of Milliways: You can either try to communicate with a ship in low Earth orbit by talking very fast for four minutes out of every ninety, or you can take a friend and go up there in person. Guest starring
1nv1nc1ble.]
Well, Ellen and Mark went to the Capital Wasteland, and went up to the alien ship, and had quite the conversation there. Back in Milliways there's a lot to think about- and probably people to see. She'll find Alyx later and tell her about the batteries. For now, Ellen gets a hand-held whiteboard from Bar (it's a little weird to use markers instead of chalk, but she supposes it's probably less wasteful as well as being more precise) and sits down to start roughing out the names of people she might need to talk to, and how they'd fit into dealing with the ship's issues.
After a bit she doodles a two-tiered flying saucer at the bottom of the whiteboard, mostly because she can.
She could be bothered. No biting, we promise.

Sep. 9th, 2012 12:10 pmThe Overworld mission draws ever closer. Soon, very soon, Gordon Freeman will lead a special strike force into the very heart of the Combine Empire in order to, one hopes, eliminate the Combine as a threat for good.
Alyx... has been keeping herself busy. Deliberately. If she doesn't, she'll be able to think about the fact that her husband is preparing to go into the heart of enemy territory and may well not return.
Unfortunately, even with a Resistance to run and two twins to take care of, there are moments of down time. This is one of them. Thus, we find Alyx in a well-lit booth, methodically disassembling and re-assembling her machine pistol.
It beats contemplating what's to come.

Sep. 9th, 2012 01:39 pm[OOM: The tradition of a lifetime takes on a whole new meaning.]
Darius is very much subdued when he comes into the bar today, and he breathes a sigh of relief when he ends up here rather than in the Hob. He can't stand walking into another room where every single inhabitant hates him on sight.
He walks up to the bar, not sure immediately what it is that he wants.
Eventually, though, he asks, "Could I get some white liquor?"
He could stand to kill a few brain cells. He's drinking to forget today.

Sep. 9th, 2012 09:22 pmTonight there is an outlaw sitting outside on the back porch, with two six-packs of beer (the label is too bright and colorful to be something from his time, but he'd asked bar for a recommendation and she'd done well to give him something he'd actually enjoy) resting beside him on the padded bench he's currently occupying. It's a nice night - cool without being outright cold, and the weather looks to be holding the skies clear.
As twilight begins to creep over the far reaches of the horizon, he uncaps the third bottle of the night and leans back, watching the still-unfamiliar stars poke out one at a time overhead. There are some nights he can't handle the noise and crowds of the main barroom, and tonight is one of them.
[Doc is botherable but in a sort of subdued mood tonight. Open until I say otherwise...I'm trying to get back into this slowly.]
