A boy walks into a bar and abruptly loses half his vision.

"Huh? Is it another holiday?"

It probably is, if Bar's dressing people up. And here Enzo just intended to supplement his Academy lunch with something that doesn't make him gag. Holidays, though, are always fun and novel, so he may be taking a longer lunch than planned!

"Hallo Enzo."

Carlotta is dangling upside down from a beam on the ceiling, grinning at him.

[a1enzo]

Where... oh, up. "Hi, Carlotta! Do you know what's processing this time?"

[fiery_ring]

"Pardon?"

[a1enzo]

"I came in and I got an eyepatch! Bar usually only dresses people up 'cause of holidays."

[fiery_ring]

"Oh, I don't know, she gave me a bandana."

[a1enzo]

Enzo nods, considering this new datum. He looks around.

There are quite a lot of eyepatches and bandannas in evidence, as well as striped shirts, frock coats, and even a few hooks.

"Dude! I think it's a pirate day!"

[fiery_ring]

"Oh, yes it might be." She drops down next to him.

[a1enzo]

"Good landing!" he says with professional approval.

[fiery_ring]

"Thanks." She beams, glad that she seems to have been forgiven since last time. "How are you doing? You look taller."

[a1enzo]

Eh, he's not going to hold her species' insanity against her personally. No sense shooting the messenger.

"I am taller! I compiled a couple weeks ago."

[fiery_ring]

"What's a compile?"

[a1enzo]

"I grew up," he translates. "We don't do it all the time like you do."

[fiery_ring]

"Oh! That must be handy, because you won't need to keep buying new clothes all the time, just when you grow."

[a1enzo]

That never occurred to him! "Yeah! Wow, how often do you need new clothes?"

[fiery_ring]

"Well not so often at my age, but every few months when I was little."

[a1enzo]

"Oh. That sounds about the same as for us."

[fiery_ring]

"But you can predict it?"

[a1enzo]

"Yeah, when you get a diagnostic scan, the doctor tells you 'bout when the next one's gonna be."

[fiery_ring]

"It's annoying when I grow now." Carlotta says. "It changes my centre of gravity."

[a1enzo]

"What do you mean?"

[fiery_ring]

Carlotta flips over and balances on one hand.

"Centre of gravity is like a point in your body where if you lean too far you fall over. As I grow, different parts of me weigh different and I have to adjust how I balance."

[a1enzo]

"Oh! Yeah, sometimes we get a little wobbly after compiling 'til we get used to it." If she's gonna be upside-down, he will be too (but he will start with two hands). "I thought you didn't get that with analog?"

[fiery_ring]

"Well most people don't need to be so exact in the way they move." Carlotta says, flipping the right way up again. "But if you're jumping onto a narrow beam little changes in balance are important."

[a1enzo]

Enzo considers this. "I guess so, yeah." He tries shifting to one hand, and tumbles. "Do you do that a lot?"

[fiery_ring]

"What, jumping? Yes, when I can."
