A one-legged seer with a brand new wooden prosthetic limps into the Bar. And almost falls flat on his face as he suddenly loses depth perception.

"What the--?!" Dominic staggers and grabs onto the nearest chair for support. With his free hand, he fingers the eyepatch that appeared on his face without warning. It doesn't seem inclined to come off.

"You have got to be kidding me."

"Rum," she replies. "Things were pretty bad for me with Draco being mid war, but I think the answer still applies."

Dominic beams. "I could see that helping."

The shoulder gets a pat.

"Ever have a Piña Colada?" she asks as she gladly helps him to the bar. "It's a rum and coconut drink I tend to get whenever I indulge."

"Doesn't ring a bell. What's a coconut?"

"A fruit from the Blue Star. It has a white milk in it, but when I asked Miss Bar about the ingredients, she listed the coconut milk with the other fruits."

"How does a fruit have milk in it?"

"I wonder about that, too, but it does kind of make sense when you see it. It's a lot thicker, whiter, and creamier than juice, so I can see why it's called milk. And fruit does have flesh."

A shrug.

"Or maybe people from the Blue Star are just weird."

It's not the first time she's thought they were weird.

"That's true of most people, in my experience," says Dominic wryly.

They get to the bar and she takes her seat.

"Maybe we could try something that uses other parts of the coconut as well?"

She places her order asking for something tasty with coconut and a Piña Colada. Hopefully she won't burn herself out.

She gets the drink and a plate of chocolate dipped coconut macaroons.

"Oh, those do look good," she says, looking at the macaroons.

Ooh, cookies! Cookies are always good! Dominic takes one and nibbles on a corner experimentally.

Then quickly scarfs down the whole thing and grabs another.

Mia takes that as a good sign and tries a bite herself.

And does the same thing Dominic does.

"Want to try the drink? It's like these without the chocolate but with alcohol."

Dominic eyes the cocktail dubiously. It's very... girly-looking.

"Well, I suppose I'll give it a shot..."

We're sorry. Mia's a very girly girl.

Maybe he'd prefer them served in the coconut itself? Then it just looks tropical.

But Mia, not completely aware of any of this, simply offers her drink to him.

Dominic takes it and takes a cautious sip.

"...mmm. Not bad."

She nods, her mouth currently full of macaroon.

Mia takes the drink back, takes a sip, and then says, "The people of the Blue Star are lucky to have the coconut. I wonder if Draco can have these brought in with his orders from Honeydukes."

Which does have pink coconut ice, but chocolate dipped macaroons are just heavenly!

"Honeydukes would be a sweet shop, I take it?"

It'd be kind of hard for it to be anything else, with a name like that.

"A wizarding sweet shop, which means some of what they have is pretty strange. They have these candies called Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans? They aren't kidding about it. I suggest avoiding the grey ones, they're either sardines or black pepper."

Dominic shakes his head. "People are very weird."

"At least they do have some good flavors in the weird ones. I like the eggplant ones."

Blink. Blink.

"First plants with milk in them, and now plants with eggs??"

"Don't look at me. I don't know anything about it except it's tasty and purple."

"Purple plants with eggs. That sounds like something out of the Wild Edge Territories, not something people would actually eat."

"The Wild Edge Territories?"

"It's an area of my world where magic works unpredictably," explains Dominic. "Legend has it that there was a mighty wizards' battle there once upon a time, and the spell remnants are still boiling around to this day..."

"Wow. I've seen places at home where the remnants of magic were able to do incredible things, but I've never seen one where it caused magic to become unpredictable."

She would be interested in seeing such a place as a result.

"It's home to all sorts of strange creatures that were mutated by the ambient magics. We're going to be taking a tour on our cruise..."

"A cruise?"

"Oh, didn't I tell you?" says Dominic, brightening considerably. "Luna and I are going on an airship cruise starting next week. We'll be going all over the world and taking in the sights!"

"How wonderful! I didn't know there were such trips!"

"My former students raised the money and booked tickets for us," says Dominic with a smile.

She smiles back.

"Now that means so much more. The Guild has its functions, but to know that the students care to do that shows how much you've touched them."

And even after all of that inquiry stuff, she'd likely still offer Dominic a job if he was interested.

Dominic just nods.

He may have lost his job, but knowing that he made that much of an impact on his class... it makes everything worthwhile.
