It was a lovely day yesterday at home. The kids seemed pretty pleased with the stuff they got, and it was probably worth the hours Shufti had spent trying to work out what a fur-bee was for Leah.
(Mind you, she did pull Leah to safety on reflex when it started moving and talking this morning. The things they make for kids!)
She wasn't expecting another present in Milliways, but there's something
under the tree. She smiles softly, and unwraps it.
It takes her so much by shock that she drops it with a strangled noise, the colour draining from her face.
The glass in the frame smashes. She stares at it, frozen, then bends down and starts to pick it up.
