[OOM: Hello, Milliways. It's been a long time.]

A year, in fact, since Parker Lee opened a door and found the bar on the other side.

She had wondered once or twice why her door hadn't followed her across the ocean. But she hadn't really worried about it. Real life had been enough of an adventure over the past year, busy and full of new people and new experiences.

And no safety net. Maybe the Universe had recognized the need for that.

Smiling, Parker turns slowly in a circle. Like Hearst, Milliways hasn't changed. But no way could it ever feel small. She rubs one friendly hand on the polished wood of the bar.

"Hi, Bar, sweetie. I'm back."

"Nawt really. We had a few sickly, bloodless cows an' a lawt o' weeds." Wilbur shrugs. "The cows tended ter die an' even the weeds didn't last long, but Gran'father insisted thet et was a farm.

"O' course, he was even crazier than his daughter, sew thet may nawt have mattered thet much."

(Slowtime, this is fun.)

"Awful? Wal, Gran'father's mission en life was ter destroy the world, an' most o' the people en the towen whar either crazy ur jest plain stupid--mostly stupid." Wilbur laughs. "Sew I'd say thet awful es rather accurate, ter be honest."
