It's too early for Charlotte to justify alcohol, and so, when she approaches the bar today, she orders a cup of tea.

As a good cup of...anything...is hard to find where she's residing at present, she's extremely grateful the superb cup of Earl Gray that bar provides.

"Good morning," he says as he turns his attention from his datapad.

Yeah Charlotte's not really a coffee person unlike her player.

"Good morning," Charlotte replies. "What's that you've got there?" Meaning the datapad, not the nasty coffee.

"A datapad. Standard issue in the 23rd century." He shows it to her a bit more closely but so much so that she could figure out how it works.

Ah. "You're relatively new to the Bar then. And haven't met anyone from any time besides yours?"

She shakes her head. "No, not really. I did meet a bloke with tentacles, though."

"Well, I guess I could tell you that I am indeed from the 23rd century. And that I don't have tentacles. Though I know some sentients who do.

"James Kirk, Earth." He extends his hand.

James Kirk wut.

It's not like Charlotte is a science fiction fan, but she's encountered her fair share of sci-fi dorks. She knows the lingo.

She also knows not to treat people who are fictional in her world as three-headed sideshow attractions in here. So she extends her own hand, and shakes Kirk's, trying her damnedest not to seem too weirded out.

"Charlotte Lewis. Earth. 21st Century."

"That seems to be the default. I've met very few non-Terrans and few from much earlier or much later. Whoever or whatever runs the Bar is inordinately found of the time and place. Or of the variations therein." Someday, he hopes to find out why. But doubts that will happen.

"He's a scientist of some sort?" Not that laymen (which, as a trained Starfleet explorer he'd exclude himself from) can't try to figure out the place, too.
