At some point the next day, Shufti pops into the bar in her pjs and dressing gown and pins a notice to the board.

Shufti and Carl Johnson are happy to announce the safe arrival of
Brian and Nathan Johnson

Both babies in special care but doing well.


She grabs some supplies from the bar ($7.50 for a bar of soap in hospital? Outrageous!) and heads back to the ward.

Sometime after Eponine speaks to her brother about what may have befallen the Inspector and the ever-generous Valjean, the gamine heads down the stairs with a gunnysack of supplies tossed over her shoulder, wearing the rags she'd donned the afternoon of her first appearance.

A lot has happened to her since her unexpected trip. She's been introduced to hope, good food, and met associates old and new.

Once, she lived for Marius - hung on his breath and his praise and his existence. She'd always labored beneath the weight of her own hopelessness, her own broken heart. But now she's seen that there's a world outside of her own, that she can live inside of it without clinging to the dead weed of her love for him.

She knows she needs to complete the circle, even so, and save Marius...but hopefully her own skin as well this time.

Pausing at the Bar, she begs for a piece of paper and a pen and writes a short note to her brother:

She takes one long, last look at the place when she gives the bar her note. Then she digs into the runsack, pulling out a black woolen mob cap. With a roguish grin she tucks the ends of her growing bob under it, then gives the place a playful salute before turning and leaving through her door.

Maybe there will be adventure in it for her after all.

Eric and Jay had spoken about security systems and that ended with Jay getting a job.

These things need installing, so Jay went on a small trip to Shreveport, where he worked, met Eric's day guy, and some over eager girls.

Later, he went to his hotel, had dinner, a massage, and some tlc. For certain values of tender and loving anyway.

He almost managed to finish the job, but trouble was brewing in this part of Louisiana, and so he had to hurry to get things done. He did manage a trip to Bon Temps where he sampled the local cuisine and brought useful info back home to Eric.

Then he went home and shortly after Eric went and had a soak in Bill Compton's bathtub. (But that's another story.)

Eric slams the door behind him - and realizes that he is again at Milliways.

It wasn't his intention, but he could use the break. Oh could he ever.
He heads to the fireplace and settles down in a chair, more than willing to take a break before heading to Bon Temps to pick up Bill Compton and take him to meet The Magister.
