After quietly requesting a pen and a sheet of note paper, he writes neatly but hastily:
Dear Abe-San,
I would like to discuss with you the possibility of procuring some identification papers. I will be around all evening.

"Please give this to Abe no Seimei if he comes by today," he whispers to Bar, and the note disappears.
He then orders a glass of gin and a fresh pack of cigarettes, and retreats to a booth to wait.
