Lorne laughs as well. "You don't like leather pants, baby?"

"I think they're just fine in the appropriate situation. I've just never been to a wedding where leather pants were appropriate."

"Neither have I, actually," Lorne says. "Frankly, we're just lucky I managed to talk him out of ones with the ass cut out."

Jack cracks up.

He has to put the glass down so he doesn't drop and break it.

Lorne grins. "I told him you were old-fashioned and wouldn't approve."

"Yes. Wouldn't approve at all." He looks at Lorne, resting his hands on the edge of the bar. "But it would be hilarious if I did, wouldn't it?"

"It would certainly make for an interesting wedding," Lorne says.

"Adults only." He looks away. "Every time I get used to how different things are in your time you spring something else on me."

"With the wedding thing, you mean?" Lorne asks, giving Jack a concerned look.

"Yeah. I mean, you're so casual about it. Sure, men marry each other. Why not." He twists the towel and then smooths it out.

Lorne frowns. "It's not quite that simple but...well, why shouldn't they?"

"I just never thought about it, that's all. I just . . . put it out of my mind. I always thought if I wanted to get married it would have to be to a woman."

"Most places that's still true," Lorne says. "But it is legal some places."

"Not just legally." He frowns. "I don't know how to explain it. Just, people get married to have kids and live together, but we can't have kids so why get married, and we can live together anyway . . ." He shrugs, helpless, and says again, "I don't know how to explain it."

Lorne laughs softly. "Baby," he says, reaching for Jack's hand. "I'm not asking you to marry me. I don't really see the point, actually. Nothing would change.

"But some people do, and I...I think it's good that they can."

Jack relaxes and squeezes his hand. "Okay. Yeah. I guess it's good they can."

"C'mere," Lorne says, cupping the back of Jack's neck in his hand and pulls him in for a kiss.

"Were you afraid I wanted us to get married?"

"I don't know if I'd call it afraid . . ." He kisses back. "Just unsettled."

Lorne smiles fondly at him and leans their foreheads together. "What we have is a beautiful thing, darlin'. We don't need to change that at all."

Jack nods and kisses him again. "I think so, too."

"Good," Lorne says, nodding as well. "So we'll build our cabin in the woods and call it good, yeah?"

"Yes," Jack says, looking relieved. "That's perfect enough."
