Mike isn't so much seated at Bar as he is slumped over her. He hates days like today. You know the kind, where what you've been putting off all week just has to be done.

The concern du jour is the lack of writing on this week's Happy Hour schedule. There's just no amount of squinting that's going to make writing magically appear on the calendar before him, and he knows it.

It's just unfair the way the universe works, you know? That procrastination can't continue indefinitly.

"There's more than one? I'm just thinking of the rules of the bar. Which one are you thinking of?"

Cal ignores the question. As a former politician, he is good at this.

"Oh, yeah. I got that right off the bat. Hasn't been much of a problem." Even if Sam does occasionally seem bent on making it otherwise with one of them.

This seems to placate Mike.

"And someone's given you your first free drink?"

"Yep. I have been here since August," Cal reminds him. "I don't think I could have avoided it if I tried."

"Quality assurance, my man. Quality assurance. I figure if I'm out here doing paperwork I might as well do a bit of impartial polling as well."

"Oh, multitasking," Cal says. "I've heard of that. What's the paperwork for, anyway?"

Mike sighs.

"It's supposed to be the weekly schedule of bartenders."

Mike holds it up to show off the paper's blank-i-tude.

Cal squints at it.

"Looks like it's really coming along. Do you have a staff or is it mostly volunteers?" He seems to remember Jenny saying something along those lines.

He hasn't been to a bartending session since Mickey Mouse showed up, though. Not on purpose. Much. Just by coincidence. Mostly.

Mike pinches the bridge of his nose.

"Originally it was just the staff, but then I got a first hand account of what it's like to be up 24 hours a day, so I sort of gave her permission to draft people into working if she needed them to. SO now it's kind of both."

"Oh." Cal nods. "That makes sense." He thinks for a second, then shrugs. "Well, I'm available sometimes if she wants. My schedule's pretty open." Which is kind of an understatement.

Mike places his hands palm down on Bar's top.

"Don't let her hear you say that, you'll get no rest."

He's kidding...mostly.

Cal laughs. "I think I'll live."

He hasn't learned the thing about tempting fate yet. Also, he likes being able to say he'll live. It's accurate again!

"That which doesn't kill us makes us work overtime?"

"Exactly," says Cal, who knows very little about working overtime.
