Riku's sitting at a table near the front, his boots plopped on the desk, writing furiously in a notebook.

He's concentrating so hard he wouldn't notice if a giant tried to sneak up on him. He's so confused his hands are shaking. He's so pissed off that he wants to punch the wall until either the wall or his fist breaks.

He's just figured out something about his friends and enemies and the bar, and he has no idea what to do about this knowledge at all.

And Ansem's voice, over and over, shooting daggers into his head and heart:

I told you so I told you so I told you so

"YOU'RE POINTING AT ME."

Pause.

"IF YOU THINK EVERYTHING ELSE IS CRAZY, YOU'RE PROBABLY BACKWARDS."

"EVERYTHING IS BACKWARDS RIGHT NOW."

...but Riku stops pointing, at least.

Roxas shrugs, "NOT MY FAULT. I JUST GOT HERE. WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?"

Riku blinks and pauses.

Silence, looong silence.

He covers his hand with a palm. "If you don't know, I probably shouldn't enlighten you."

Shut the fuck up.

Roxas stares back at him, just waiting.

"You do not want me to come up with an alternate designation. I'm an asshole."

"I think I'm aware of that already, thanks.

I can always do the same for you, I'm an asshole too."

He grins far too wide.

"Difference is that I am by definition incapable of caring."

Which answers the initial question.

Riku laughs. It's a strange sound, much darker this time, more like a growl than anything else. His eyes are so strange now, so yellow rather than blue-black, so yellow, so yellow -

"And you're assuming 'm not?"

Outside, Ansem is ready to enjoy himself. Inside, Riku fumes.

"I can feel your heart." Roxas says with a shrug, "So you've got more capacity than me, no matter how much of an asshole you are."

Ansem laughs.

"You're feeling his heart. , my dear friend, am only darkness."

Roxas stares the stare of the completely confused.

See Roxas? Is just smart enough to know he's an idiot and thus keep his mouth shut upon occasion.

"We haven't seen you around here for awhile, Sora's Shadow." Lips form into an imitation of a friendly smile. "Did you finally stop hiding because Namine ditched you?"

"You are crazy." Roxas says after a moment of staring, "Who's Sora?"

"You'll remember. And the pain will be delicious."

"Yeeeaaah." Roxas just shakes his head, "Right. You just keep telling yourself that, fuckwad."
