When Enzo approaches the Bar seeking a power-up, he is presented with a small leather pouch. His processor cycles more rapidly as he fumbles it open to examine its contents.

Perfect.

There's also a slip of paper inside. Pay what he would for something similar in his own world, huh? Might help if he knew how much that was...

Inara is passing through the bar from the Flowers office when she spots Enzo. She grins, moving towards him.

"What do you have there?"

Enzo starts, and his hands snap shut around the object as he looks around for the source of the voice.

All that's in the first half-second, however, before whose voice it is (or rather, isn't) registers and he relaxes. "Hey, I know you. You were, uh..." Shoot, where does he recognize her from... "Pirate day! That was it!"

"Yes, that's right." Inara grins. "I always remember people who fall on me from great heights."

Eh-heh-heh-heh. "Yeah, sorry about that. I think I got a little too excited."

"It's fine. No permanent damage and the fun was worth it."

She gestures towards the bag in his hand. "So did you get a present?"

"Er, sort of. It's for my girlfriend."

Glancing about again to make sure Dani's... well, okay, he can't make sure she's not around, but if she is, she's not visible... he shakes out the bag again.

Inara studies the pin, reaching out to touch it lightly, noting its resemblance to the one on Enzo's chest.

"It's lovely. I'm sure she'll love it." She nods to the pouch. "Did you have it made by someone here in the bar?"

Enzo nods. "Teja, out at the forge."

Inara picks up the pin, studying it. "It's very well-crafted. I'll have to remember him in the future - Christmas, perhaps."

She hands the pin back with a smile.

Enzo accepts it, smiling, and returns it to its pouch.

"I really hope she likes it. It's... for something important."

Inara raises an eyebrow, but doesn't press if he doesn't want to say.

It's not a matter of wanting to. He can't, not yet.

"I don't even know what I'm supposed to pay for it."

"Not surprising, around here. But I'm sure it's worth it and I know it won't be a price you can't pay."

Inara leans back against the bar. "So what do you do around here usually? Besides getting into pirate water battles?"

"What'cha got there, darlin'?"

There wasn't a Mouse behind Enzo before (or there didn't seem to be), but there certainly is now.

Enzo's hands clap shut around whatever it is, but then he relaxes. "Oh, it's you. Hi, Mouse." He looks down at his hands, still cupped together. "It's, uh, for Dani."

"Darlin', I c'n keep a secret just fine, an' I think I've wrung out the notion a' makin' you blush fer havin' a girlfriend," Mouse points out.

"Yeah, I know you can." He smirks. "And yeah, you have."

His hands open, displaying the little golden icon.

"Oooh. That's lovely." Mouse may not be a thief anymore, but she still has an especial appreciation for shiny, valuable things. "Are ya gonna digitize it t'bring back home, or is it gonna be fer, y'know, outings?"

Enzo looks down. "Gonna leave it matter. It's a... homecoming present. For when she does." Whenever that is.

"Maybe it's better that way. Digitizin' would kinda defeat th'purpose an' all. Actually, that kinda makes me wonder...where'd ya get yer hands on a Userspace article like that anyhow?"

"Commissioned it. Y'know there's a forge here? Teja runs it, he's a dead king. He's got a sign on the bboard." He glances at the not-exactly-invoice that came with the pin. "He says I should pay him whatever this kind of thing'd cost in our world, but I don't know how much that is."

"Well, y'came t'the right sprite, darlin.'" Technically Enzo didn't come to her, but never mind. "I'd say two hundred an' fifty, maybe three hundred units? That's a pretty pricey gift."

Enzo nods. That's even more than he expected, but he knew it wouldn't come cheap. And this isn't the sort of thing he wants to use Dot's tab for. He wants to do this right.

"He said I can pay him a little at a time, when I get my stipend. Guess I won't be going to Jimmy's Shake Bar for a while."

"Ah, th'sacrifices a fella makes fer love. I'm sure Dani'll appreciate it, darlin'."

Enzo smiles. "Thanks, Mouse." The smile becomes more humorous. "She'd better. That's my stipend for half of term."
