Having woken up late this morning, Bella Swan really, really doesn't have time for Milliways right now.
So, of course, when she heads into her kitchen to grab a granola bar, guess where she ends up?
She's in a little bit of a hurry, but she figures the door's not going to disappear in the time it takes to order some cereal instead. And maybe some juice.
Thus: Bella. Bar. Breakfast.
(Botherable? Duh!)
[tiny!tag: Carlisle Cullen]

Sans the breakfast, of course.
In a fit of rarity, Edward is not watching his surroundings at all right now. He's over in the area of the fireplace, on one of the chairs furthest from the fireplace with a book. He has one knee tucked up inside the circle of the arm, leaned in slightly toward the aloft text, while the other hand is holding the book.
The occurrence of the rare, unguarded soft expression isn't a dream either.

She sucks in a breath so fast that she's lucky not to choke on her cornflakes; she'd been expecting some warning (and possibly some more prep time during which to question her own sanity) before seeing Edward again.
No time like the present, right?
She hops off her barstool decisively, takes her glass of juice with her, and heads over to where Edward's sitting.
"Well, at least now I don't have to wonder whether or not I'll see you today."

"I would have kept my promise."
Was it so masochistic to note relief even as pain scorched through him?

She's still not really sure where they stood, exactly, after the weirdness that was last night. She's also not sure how to ask, so she goes for a safe question.
"What're you reading?"

"The collected poems of E.E. Cummings," he said, with a faint reluctance, dropping his leg gracefully so both of them were normal. He knew that most of her generation could not stand, no less longed to take the time to understand poetry.

"That's not for class, is it? You've probably read all the assigned stuff more times than I have."
no subject
"No, it isn't." He looked upward, consideringly, though his gaze went back to a strand of her hair moving in the air. "I don't mind rereading if the material is worthwhile."
Edward minded having to play dumb far more, and even more than playing dumb the lack of any true depth to literary discussion on the indepth study of textual material over decades.

"Coffee please." After a night shift, Ben needs to caffeinate himself before his body will start demanding food.
Well, not really, but coffee is always good.

Not that she ever listens, either. Sometimes coffee is just flat-out necessary to deal with the pressures of being a teenager.

A hand is offered after being warmed on the cup. "Ben Winchester."

"And I never heard that one from my parents, anyway. Renee doesn't get the concept of 'too energetic' and Charlie probably doesn't even know I drink it."

Bella looks sympathetic.
"Once you move out she'll probably send you eleven hundred emails a day. Then you can turn her own argument against her."

He smells her before he sees her.
"Good morning, Bella."

Bella smiles slightly sheepishly.
"I guess Edward told you that he ran into me in Port Angeles?"
Ran into was an understatement, but Bella figures since it was very nearly literal she can get away with it.

And involved, more ways than he would have ever thought he would be, in the life of a seventeen-year-old human girl.
"I am happy to know that you remain unscathed," he chooses carefully.
no subject
"... did he inform you about the other stuff? That I know? Now?"
Yes, Bella does, in fact, put that many question marks into one sentence, because she's just that hesitant when dealing with a potentially disapproving parental figure other than her own.
no subject
It's probably more than Bella wanted, but it's the truth.
"I suppose you would have questions."
Because I have questions for you that I am not even sure should be asked aloud.
no subject
Including the completely ridiculous ones.
"Except we didn't really talk about Milliways. Do people here know? I don't want to accidentally let anything slip here that would make it awkward for you."

She settles back in her chair and traces designs on the tabletop. Pouting.

His gaze goes to the Heavens and he wonders why he was
blessedcursed with such an adorably, amazing, and fantasticwife. Before he fixes Bella with a stare again, that is. He can't help it. She's just sitting there. Eating cereal.

The kick says stop it even as Alice turns her head to watch Bella.
