"What did you do to her?" she asks, pragmatically.

And still extremely amused.

"Just-Liz, I ain't been here as long as some, but I know enough not to upset the lady."

A beat as he glances at the bartop.

"Think I liked the ponies better."

She squints at him, a little, at the 'ponies' comment -- but she lets it go.

"I've been told she likes holidays and costumes," Liz says, not entirely unsympathetic. "You'll probably get your hat back."

Bar, possibly noting Liz's puzzlement, helpfully offers a book in explanation.

"Hope so."

Solemn Ben is solemn, even in the wake of the pony-related surprise by Liz's elbow.

Liz stares, for a minute, at the sparkly pony disclosure.

Then she says, "You know, maybe it was closed-minded of me, but I never would have taken you for a My Little Pony fan."

Sadly, "You don't know me at all. All this time, I thought you cared ... "

She rolls her eyes, but not in a way where it's especially cranky. "Yeah," she says. "All that bonding over guns and black hats, it was a lie."
