There is a familiar cheshire-cat grin.

Nikola has about five seconds before the singing starts.

Through his friends, Yrael has developed the belief that birthdays are meant for embarrassing those that have them.

(ooc: Mun at work, so may be v. slow without warning. But she couldn't resist. ^_^)

Nikola has developed quite the knack for avoiding embarrassment. He holds up a warning finger before Yrael even gets close.

"Don't even think about it," he says.

"It's a bit late for that," she says simply, sing-song with a familiar tune.

Nikola rolls his eyes. "Fine, fine," he says. "Thank you. Cupcake?" He offers her one.

"Thank you, but I'm afraid it'd be wasted on me."

"I don't much care for sweet things."

Just another way of saying she can't really taste them. It's not something she admits very often.

"Mmm, too bad," Nikola says, swirling a finger through the frosting of one of the cupcakes and licking it off. "More for me, I suppose."

"I prefer something... savory," she grins. "And fresh."

"Well, yes, generally," Nikola agrees. "But on occasion, sweets are preferable."

"... Chocolate's all right, I suppose. But it has to be the dark, bittersweet chocolate."

"Speaking of savory, though... what are your feelings on curry?"

"Mmm...dark chocolate," Nikola murmurs.

And he grins. "My dear, I haven't had a decent curry in years."

She chuckles. "Neither have I. A couple of years ago, I was introduced to curry by a friend of mine who was something of a gourmet chef. He made us curry, and recently I was struck by a craving, so earlier today I made my best attempt to re-create his recipe."

Yrael feels she did well.

"Care for some?"

"Absolutely," Nikola says, smiling.

It's but the work of a moment to head to the kitchen, ignoring the angry squeaks of the bolder waitrats while stepping over those that flee out the door, and bring back two plates of fragrant homemade curry over rice.

"You have to tell me what you think of it," she stipulates as she sets one in front of him.

Nikola takes a bite and rolls it over his tongue, smiling.

"Mmm, very nice," he murmurs around the bite.

The not'cat grins, taking a bite from her own plate. "Glad you like it. You can always get the freshest ingredients here, somehow."

Magic.

"I've noticed that," Nikola says. "Now if only they'd increase the alcohol content of their drinks so I could get a decent buzz once in a while."

"Hmmmmm," says she. "Have you not tried the Atlantean yet?"

His eyebrows go up. "The what now?"

This would be Yrael's evil laugh.

Yrael's evil laugh is quite intriguing.

"Well? Don't hold out on me today. It's my birthday."

"Bar? Bar," Yrael snickers. "We need a bottle of Atlantean, pronto, and two glasses.

A note appears.

"Don't worry," she grins. "I won't allow any alcoholic comas."

Another note.

"Yes, I promise."

Two wine glasses appear, along with a bottle of golden wine that might as well be liquid light.

Nikola grins and rubs his hands together. "Now this sounds quite promising."

"It's... deceivingly potent," she says, pouring two glasses. "But truly delicious."

Full glasses. Nikola is a big, grown-up vampire. He can take care of himself.

He certainly can.

He picks up a glass and raises it. "I feel rather like we should have a toast."

"It is your birthday, after all," she grins, taking her own glass.

"To a happy and fulfilling birthday," she says, amused. "And many more?"
