{OOM: In which everyone's favourite crazy couple visit their very first new planet and run into a little trouble. But then, what's a date without a little rescue?}


The door opens onto an exactly-the-same-size-on-the-inside-a-it-is-on-the-outside spaceship, and two people enter the bar. The pretty first, one blonde supersoldier clad in a t-shirt and trousers. She's helping the prettier second, a certain speedster clad in a pair of red-and-yellow swim trunks*, combination hobble-hopping with a bandage holding a self-cooling pack in place on his left ankle. They make their way for the couches, but could be stopped along the way.


*He didn't exactly have time to change, okay?

{Two pups, two muns, have fun teasing the speedster with the sprained ankle.}

Once at the couch, Jenny sits first. She gestures for Bart to sit as well, still looking a tad guilty about everything.

"Anything I can do, Speedy?"

He's supposed to something with his ankle, he's pretty sure. Like elevate it so it doesn't explode to three times its size. Thus, that would be him eyeing the space between himself and Jenny and wondering if there's enough room for his foot without it being in her lap. (The self-cooling pack is holding up really well, so he's not going to bother with a replacement for now.)

"I could use crutches or something."

Cause, no, he doesn't plan on dragging people (i.e. Jenny) with him wherever he goes.

"Crutches," Jenny echoes, memorizing the unfamiliar word. "Okay. Food or drink or, um..."

What would Dad do in a situation like this? What does her inheritance tell her? Jenny bites her lip, eying him.

"Shouldn't that be propped?"

"Yeah, it should," he admits, and does some interesting gymnastics to get his hands on a pillow for it without moving (hopping takes a lot of energy, okay?).

Beat.

"I think they're adjustable or something, so whatever Bar comes up with should be good."

She so could've done that!

"I'll be right back," she says quietly, pouting a little when Bart gets the pillow himself. She wants to be useful! "Just, stay put, please?"

She kisses his cheek quickly before walking away towards Bar.

That would've defeated the purpose. Or something.

Bart?

Doesn't stay put well.

And twiddling thumbs really isn't all it's cracked up to be. Or anything, really.

Thankfully for him, Jenny is fast. And returns rather quickly hopping about on the crutches herself. There are giggles as she walks and even when she stops. She places the crutches against the couch and falls into his laugh with another giggle.

"Good?"

Cue a smirking rich archer. No, not that one, the female one who dresses in purple.

"You really are fast in everything huh? ...Well, less so at the moment, what happened?" She gestured to the injury.

Which is kinda cool, actually.

"And stupidly started running by the pools," Jenny chimes in unhelpfully as her arm tightens around Bart's waist.

".............You're an idiot, you know that?" Kate shook her head at Bart.

She then smiled at Jenny, and offered a hand to shake, "Hi, I'm Kate, nice to meet you, Jenny."

She then gestured to Bart, though still speaking to Jenny, "So hard to train these boys to behave isn't it? Should see my Will's temper at times." A not so subtle way to say she's so not gonna mack on Jenny's date when she's got her own outlaw to spend time with.

Bart's protest would normally be argued with. But Kate's said something much more exciting. Her face lights up.

"Will as in England Will?"

...just in case Will is a common name about here.

Hey thar, new people. There's a Black Lab puppy staring at them from the small recliner next to the couch, where she's lounging on top of her napping mistress (the blonde in the bikini and shorts).

Those crutches look like really big puppy treats.

Either way, they sit there. Unmoving. Mocking.

Meanwhile, their speedster is completely oblivious of any attention given to his crutches.

There are few things better than kissing Bart or running.

The way that puppy is looking at them might be one of those things. Jenny taps Bart excitedly, giggling from her seat on his lap. "Look! Isn't it cute, Speedy?"

Cute? Mel is ADORABLE, according to her goddess. Who is currently asleep and probably won't notice the way the puppy positions herself just seconds before launching right towards the enormous puppy sticks!

Meaning the noise she makes seconds after crashing into said crutches might conceivably wake Eirene up.

Maybe.

Since Jenny pointed the puppy out to Bart before Mel attacks, Bart somehow manages a last minute superspeed puppysave from the couch, bringing said puppy up to meet Jenny and not get attack his crutches again.

Also, for collar-checking.

And maybe a little surreptitious scritching.

Jenny beams at Bart as she regards the puppy now squirming in her arms. Isn't he adorable? Muuuuch cuter than said rescuer of crutches.

"Hello boy!"

"Bart? What happened? Are you all right?"

"I'm fine, Stretch," he says, blatantly snubbing the truth.

Because he totally is fine, anyway. Everything except for his ankle! Also those mostly-healed marks where the Judoon stuck needles into him, especially that one that was taking a blood sample and had a little anti-coagulant in it!

"He really is, Clark," Jenny insists, holding Bart in a protective embrace. Guilt really isn't a feeling she likes. "I wouldn't let the Judoon take him. I swear!"

"You're not fine," Clark snaps, but it's out of concern, really, than anything else. Then he fixes Bart's ankle with a very serious and intense look before glancing over at Jenny.

"How about you start from the beginning?"

"He already has ice." Or something close enough, but Jenny won't tell him that. She eyes Clark warily, with a full Timelady stare. "And the Judoon are far behind on Umbeka. I wouldn't ever let anything happen to him. Jay is safe with me."
