So, apparently what you do when your girlfriend pretty much drags you, kicking and screaming, back into the realm of what can only be called 'functionally broken' is take her out on a date.

A proper one.

Jenny kicked him out as soon as he was dressed so she could get ready, so there's a Bart hanging out in the general bar area.

He's wearing a suit.

He gave his flowers to bar for safe-keeping, but still, a suit. (Kid cleans up nice.)

Kid does clean up nice.

That's not why Cavilo is eyeing him speculatively from her barstool, chin resting in hand and fingers curled gracefully upward around her jawline.

...He has a girlfriend.

And he's kind of underage.

Not that he hasn't noticed (he has a thing about being watched), just not interested kthnx.

Oh, she's seen him with his girlfriend. That's why the eyeing; she's wondering if this is the elusive Jay / Bart / whatever he calls himself.

She's also wondering, idly, how long he'll watch her watching him before he either says something or moves.

Jay, yes.

Eventually there is a paper airplane, apparently coming from nowhere.

She reaches up and snags the paper dart, glancing at it with idle curiosity.

When unfolded, it sez "Do I know you?".

The Bart is eyeing her.

She shoots a look back at the kid, and smiles. Interesting.

A tap on the bartop and a murmured request gets her a pen; she writes a few words below the missive, then carefully folds it back into its original shape.

And sets it aside on the bar, and waits.

It sits there for a long time.

Huh.

Maybe he's lost interest?

Or maybe he's just biding his time until she gets bored.

Could be.

She orders another drink (a deep red liquor just a shade lighter than the jumpsuit she's wearing), and sips delicately.

Eventually, when she's not looking (or looks like she's not looking) the paper disappears.

It may be mysteriously next to Bart.

He runs fast, Jenny said. But -- that fast?

Her lip would curl a bit, if she weren't carefully keeping control of her face at the moment. Another one. Hells.

(The words in her hand say: Possibly not, but I think I know you.)

Another one returns.

It says How?

Dubious Bart is dubious.

"You're Jay, aren't you?"

It's said in a friendly tone, even warmly. She knows he saw her coming; he stopped pretending not to watch when she sauntered over.

Totally with the uninterested.

"Who wants to know?"

Oh, that's adorable. He's defensive. For a moment she seriously considers mentioning his grandfather, just to see how he'll react.

"I'm Lara," she says instead, smiling. "Jenny's told me all about you."

"Yeah?"

"Oh yes." Cheerful. "I see she took you back."

The icon says it all, really.

Still smiling. "Though that would be a while ago now."

"Yeah."

And the monosyllable gets a laugh. "Oh, dear. Are you always this terse?"

Alice walks by and the turns around and tilts her head at him, smiling. "You look very nice, Bart. You have a date?"

"Yeah."

Alice, of course, knew of this already, having dressed Jenny for it earlier. "Well, you do look good. And just wait until you see Jenny."

Eyebrow raise.

"You have?"

"Of course." Alice grins, crossing her arms. "I'm the one who dressed her. It was fun."

"...Okay."

Alice frowns at him and sighs. "Yep."

THEY ARE SO AWESOME.

"You okay?"

"Oh, I'm peachy." Alice smiles again. "So, Bart, I don't have to give you a 'be good to Jenny' speech, right?"

Running in to Alice had been a stroke of luck, if you asked Jenny. Rather than being left to dress herself, Alice stepped in and helped her pick out something suitable for her first Earth date.

So, feeling awkward in heels (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6BDzwoWq8m0/SV07lwmpwwI/AAAAAAAACzM/nb0cbQ3jjRY/s400/christian-louboutin-black-leather-pumps.jpg) that she can't run in at all but not so awkward in the black dress (http://www.modcloth.com/store/images/022009_07_L.jpg), she finally comes downstairs. The hand on the railing sports a simple silver bracelet and the ring Bart had gotten her for Christmas. Hair is down and curled, with a black ribbon laced as a headband. Jenny's makeup looks perfect.

When she spies the two, she waves and tries to head over as quickly as possible. The fact that she nearly trips along the way will be entirely glossed over.

"Nah, not so mu-"

Yes, he just spotted Jenny. Moment of silence for the completely gorgeous girlfriend, yes?

Alice beams at Jenny as she walks (trips) over. She's like a blonde Bella in a way!

"You're welcome," Alice smugs.

Is not! Jenny is far more graceful. In combat boots. Not heels that no one - not anyone - alive can run in.

"It looks good?" she double checks with Alice as she stops in front of the pair. "Like a human should?"

Well, the totally smitten look on Bart's face says yes, but he's not the fashion guru.

"Perfect, of course." Alice grins. "Walk on the ball of your foot. You won't trip as much."

She reaches out and smooths a wrinkle out of Jenny's skirt. "You both look so nice."

Jenny beams at them both before throwing herself (carefully) at Alice in a big hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

It's nice. Making Bart smile like that so easily again.

Bart has no tips for walking high heels, and shall remain silent.

It's possible his flowers-for-Jenny have mysteriously reappeared, tho. :O

Alice hugs Jenny back, just as carefully. Pulling back, she fixes Jenny's hair and gestures at Bart. "Okay, kids. Be good and have fun."

"We will," Jenny promises.

Then, giggling, she accepts the flowers from Bart and kisses the corner of his lips. "They're brilliant, Bart."

Slightly distracted, "You got it."

YAY JENNY KISS. Best. Thing. Ever.

(...With the exception of some other Jenny-related things.)

Bart anything, really, is better than anything else Jenny's ever experienced. Giggling again, she slides her hand into his.

"Where are we going?"
