Jack--the other other Captain Jack--doesn't know his namesake is in the bar.

What he does know is that he's got a fine summer supper on the table, a book and a leisurely hour or two to pass.

He also has a boyfriend, who smiles when he sees him and slides onto the seat next to him.

"So, what are we having tonight?"

Lorne gets a kiss first.

"This is a tomato basil salad," says Jack, pointing to his plate: a slice of tomato and a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of fresh basil. "Do you want some? It's sweet, and the cheese is really good."

"Caprese salad?" Lorne says. "I'd have a bite."

"Sure," Jack says like the name of the thing really doesn't matter to him and cuts off a bite for Lorne, which he feeds to him carefully.

Lorne smiles as he chews. "Tasty," he murmurs and swallows. "How've you been, babe?"

"Enjoying the summer," Jack says and has a sip of his drink. Lots of swimming and walking."

Lorne nods and reaches up to slide his fingers through Jack's hair. "Good. It's beautiful out there."

"It is," Jack says softly, smiling at him. "And how have you been, sweetheart?"

"Busy," Lorne says, stealing a sip of Jack's drink. "Things are...stressful and awkward right now."

"How so?" He starts to rub the back of Lorne's neck.

Lorne winces slightly as Jack's fingers rub the knots in his neck. "New commander. He's...a bureaucrat."

"Every war's got them," Jack says and digs in a little deeper.

"Yeah. He's just been," he gasps softly when Jack hits a particularly bad knot, "hard to get used to."

"I can tell," Jack says.

Lorne chuckles quietly. "And medical's got their hands full with this retrovirus thing, and getting the Athosians resettled." He sighs. "It's good to take a break."

"Retrovirus?" Jack says with a little sigh.

Seventy years is a long time, and doubly so when it comes to technology.

"It's this...kind of like a vaccine? You remember when I told you about Michael? How we changed his DNA, his genes, and he was experimenting on others?"

"I . . . think so," Jack says, though a lot of this just sounds like so much gibberish to him.

Lorne is not the right person to try to explain it better. "Well, he did to Teyla's people what we did to him, only backwards. Made them more like Wraith instead of less. And now that we've got them back, Keller's had to work up this retrovirus to make them human again."

Jack wraps an arm around him and pulls him close.

"Making human" is something he can understand.

Lorne smiles and leans into him. "And in the meantime, Teyla's been splitting her time between the city and her people, and that's making Sheppard cranky, and...well, things trickle down."

"And that's why you come home," Jack says gently, "and forget about your CO and eat--what did you call it? Caprese salad."

Lorne smiles softly and takes Jack's hand. "Yeah," he murmurs. "That's why I come home."

Jack kisses him.

"I need more than a tomato for dinner," he decides. "Do you want something?"

Lorne laughs. "Sure. What do you feel like."

And then he shakes his head. "You know what? Let me cook something for you. We can get the ingredients from Bar and take it home, yeah?"

"We could do that. I would like a steak, I think. And kettle fries. And maybe some roasted tomatoes on the side."

"All right," Lorne says, and kisses him. "I can do that." He stands and holds out a hand for Jack.

Jack stands, finishes off his drink in one swig, and takes hold of Lorne's hand.

Lorne pulls him over to the bar to get the ingredients needed and picks up the paper bag with a smile. "Ready?"

"Ready." He swings Lorne's hand a little.

Lorne chuckles as he tugs Jack out the back door.
