Jane is almost finished Tom Jones and so is in the midst of reading as her tea grows cold beside her.

Though most of her thoughts about this book are what she wishes to say to Tom about it and she keeps smiling with pleasure in anticipation.

After all one of the greatest joys is to discuss a book with someone who recommended it to you. There is tea enough to share and she will remember to be social after these last few pages.

"Is it a good book?" Teja asks, turning up by her table.

"Greetings, Jane Austen!"

The name means nothing to him, except the virtuous and clever young woman he sometimes sees in the bar.

She only jumps slightly when he speaks to her,

"It is a fascinating book, Teja."

"What is it about?" Teja asks.

[janebecomes]

"A young man finding his way in the world. T.Mister Lefroy told me that I should read it."

"Oh," Teja says. "He is the one that looks like Will Scarlett, is he not?"

[janebecomes]

"Yes though I have not met Mister Scarlett only his lady."

[ostro_goth]

"He has red hair, unlike your friend," Teja says.

[janebecomes]

"I do know that. I met Kate Bishop and it was fascinating to hear her and Mister Lefroy discussing the differences."

[ostro_goth]

"There are ever such similarities, odd and pointless," Teja says. "When I was but truly new here, one man that I know wore the face of our great King Theodoric."

Pause.

"Indeed, he does wear his face, but not his hair and beard, and so looks nothing like him, normally."

[janebecomes]

"It would be a strange thing indeed if there were two Tom Lefroys in the world."

"Very confusing for the world, also," Teja says. "But there are different versions of the same man in different worlds, that even bear the same name."

[janebecomes]

"How do you know? Have you met other versions of men here?"

[ostro_goth]

"I know there are other versions of Will's friends from his world," Teja says. "It must be painful for him."

Cyborg is roaming the Bar again. Door keeps showing up, and he keeps coming in. It's still weird but he's not so tense this time.

At one point Jane looks up and sees him and almost drops her book.

"Nuts. I did it again, didn't I? Lady, I am not a Cyberman. Just a friendly cyborg." He thought his days of being stared at were over. Oh well.

"I.i do not now what either of those are, sir."

"Oh." He thinks some more. "Right. Time travel. You're from before they invented the word." Which would be before 1970, which leaves a lot of time. But at least she doesn't think he's a Cyberman.

"I'm part machine. But mainly human. Really."

"May I ask how you became part machine, sir?"

Sir? No one ever calls him sir. He sorta likes that, though.

"There was an accident. I needed lots of repairs, so they fixed me this way. Saved my life."

[janebecomes]

"Then I am glad you were able to be helped so, sir. You must pardon me, I just have never seen anyone who looks as you do before."

"I'm not that common in my world, either, but people are kinda used to me. When are you from?" He wonders if she's met that robot he talked to when he first arrived.

"1796 in the reign of King George the Third, sir."

"That's a long time ago. And another country." Pause. "You aren't trying to turn the US English again, right?" In Cy's world, that question really makes sense.

"No, sir. I am simply reading."
