Cal is not impressed by any of this.

There is an eyepatch on the seat of the chair next to him, and the fabric of his blousy white shirt bears evidence of much exasperated plucking.

Given the harem she seems to be collecting, it's possibly for the best.

"Not really. Not that you could understand the Russian, but you seem to be smart sometimes. I think you could get idea."

"Geez, thanks, I'm blushing," Cal snorts, laughing. He knows he's not smart, of course, but still! Something had to be said.

"Tact is for other people."

"Yeah, that was pretty much the motto in my house," Cal says. "Well. More like, 'Tact is for using in front of the press.' But yeah, you know what I mean."

"Other people that you don't trust."

For a second, Cal thinks she means his family. She wouldn't be wrong. Then he realizes.

"Oh. Uh, yeah. Yeah, exactly. The people you have to look perfect in front of so they can't fuck you over."

"Not perfect. Just...not scared or thinking different."

Cal nods, thinking about when and where she's from and what her job was.

"'Nothing too abstract, nothing too extreme,'" he murmurs, then, "Yeah. That sounds pretty close."

"But...you are oke, I think."

Cal kind of figured that out when she had no problem getting drunk alone with him - she may be more fit, but he's much bigger than she is, and that counts for a lot - but he still smiles. It's good to hear out loud.

"So are you," he says. "Very okay."
