Sameth has an idea that he feels like he wants to try and draw or work on before he goes to the forge so he's by the fire with a charcoal pencil and some parchment trying to get his ideas together.

Since he's testing and considering various Marks, the Charter and its smell is more clearly around him.

Especially to one with as sensitive a sense of smell as Jason. He wrinkles his nose, looking around instantly for the source. Usually that smell comes form Yrael, but this isn't as nose-tingling (read: awful) as when Yrael is going all Bright Shinery on him.

Looks like it's coming from that guy over there. Jason frowns and head over. "Hey," he greets, eyeing the stranger.

"Hmm, oh hello. Was I bothering you?"

His thoughts are rather more on the design in front of him so Jason gets a confused look. Sameth's nothing too much to look at, just over six feet but its hard to tell with how he's sitting and focused on his work, his clothing is simple, good quality linen shirt and leather breeches and nice boots.

Though Jason might recognize the faint Charter Mark on his forehead from the times he's seen Yrael actually work another sort of magic.

It's been a long time, but the smell is familiar enough.

"I wouldn't say 'bothering' exactly, but you're kind of monopolizing the smells in here. What are you doing?"

"Smells? Just working on an idea."

He turns the page around so Jason can see, the drawings are somewhere between an engineer's and an artist's.

Jason can't really make sense of them, but he never was all that interested in mechanical drawings. Or any drawing. He doesn't like things he's not particularly good at.

"What's it supposed to be?"

And what are you doing over here to make it smell like this?

"I'm trying to figure out how to construct a spell to destroy bugs inside a mechanical frog. Its just confusing since I have work make it work around the mechanics and I want to see if I can get an idea of what won't make sense before I head to the forge."

He tries to point out how its sort like a frog, he's the best artist but then its more he's drawing to remind himself of things.

"That..."

Doesn't really help him.

"...is interesting. So; spells, huh? You do magic?"

Things start to swim to the surface in Jason's brain. He pauses, studying the guy uneasily. "Wait, are you from...shit, what's it called...the Old Kingdom?"

"Yes, I'm a Charter Mage."

Sameth tries not to sigh, clearly this is one of Mogget's friends,

"I'm Sameth. Are you a friend of Mogget's?"

Shit. Didn't he and Yri go to Old Kingdom once so Yri could nosh on some Charter Mages?

Jason frowns. Best not to bring it up. "I'm not sure who Mogget is, but I've heard there was someone else from the Old Kingdom who keeps stirring trouble up for himself. Must be you, I guess."

"I've had some bad luck. There are only three of us here from the Old Kingdom, my mother and Mogget are the others. Though Mogget goes by another name here that I'm not as familiar with."

Its a habit he normally does in Beliasaere when he's unsure but he's sitting a bit straighter and holding himself more like a prince.

Only makes him that much taller. Damn the Old Kingdom with all its tall...tall things.

Jason cocks an eyebrow. "Yrael?" he offers.

"Yes, I'm not trying to be in his way here. I just want to have a place where I can have some time away from my duties at court."
