The doctor is in. In the bar, that is-- sitting at the bar, rubbing his eyes with tiredness and drinking what appears to be an extremely intense energy drink. He's left his microscopic goggles on, absent-mindedly.

Someone might want to let him know why the table appears to be so close.

The true question: why not?

Which, of course, then has to be said aloud: "Why not?"

It's the maxim of the scientist.

Of the mad scientist, anyway, and that's the important consideration here.
"I don't see the appeal, Doc."
But then, Moist likes sleeping every now and then.

"It's the principle, Moist. You realize that we spend a third of our lives sleeping, don't you? Think of all the amazing things you could do if you just stayed awake."

He thinks about thinks a regular person might do, in that situation. "You know, living the good life. Exploring the world. Updating your blog."

"Even so. There're people who actually like sleeping."
He's not saying Doc shouldn't do it. He's just saying he doesn't get it.

"Yeah, you're probably right," he reflects.

"I mean, go for it, if you want. But not everybody's gonna get this one."
Not everybody gets Doc's stuff anyway, granted.

He's just a misunderstood genius.

"I just feel like it will benefit me, overall. As a villain."

"It might. Definitely be an advantage no one else had, long as nobody figured out how you did it."
It's the 'as a villain' part that cues the awkward pause. "...Heard Captain Hammer's around."

He grimaces.

"Don't remind me. At least he doesn't remember who I am. Think he's had some kind of amnesia after the death ray backfired, maybe."

"...Really. Weird."
Or maybe it's one of those weird time things. Either way, Moist stands by the 'who's next, Bad Horse?' thought.

"Yeah. It's nice, though. I mean, you know, he's a jerk, but... he doesn't remember humiliating me ever."

Except, of course, the first time he encountered him in here. Funny how that works.

Of course.
"Yeah, Mia said she wasn't impressed, and I get the feeling that's hard to do with her."

"Really."

He raises a brow. "I'm surprised at the lack of instant disciples. Maybe he'll have to beat me up a few times before that happens."

Dr. Horrible raises his energy drink, weakly. "So here's to him never finding me in here again."

"Or maybe it's just that people here actually look closer." Either way, Moist isn't gonna argue.
"Amen."
He'd toast back, but he's fresh out of water at the moment.

"That could be it." He makes a face.

"And, well, if he tries anything here, Security would probably be on his ass for picking a fight in the bar."
Which would be kind of hilarious, seeing Captain Hammer arrested (or the local equivalent). We're not gonna lie.

We certainly won't lie, either-- that'd be amazing.

"Yeah, well... I guess. As long as they're not too busy being impressed."

Forgive him for being dubious. There's a history here.

"Around here, there's probably scarier people on Security."
Moist wouldn't be surprised by that. The kind of people this place gets, they'd need it.

"Yeah, probably."

He stares at his drink.

"You talked to her yet?"
It's not the smoothest segue ever, but... well.

He sighs, loudly.

"Not yet. Haven't, uh, seen her around, really."

"Well. Hopefully she didn't... disappear or anything."
Moist wouldn't know, as he's not really keeping an eye out just yet. He does want to actually meet her at some point, but that's going to be a lot easier after things are said.

"You think that's a possibility?" he asks, worried. No way he can let her slip through his fingers again.

"Well, I hope not."
But Milliways is weird.

True that.

"How could that happen? I mean, I know the doors come and go, but... she can't go back, can she?"
