The doctor is in. In the bar, that is-- sitting at the bar, rubbing his eyes with tiredness and drinking what appears to be an extremely intense energy drink. He's left his microscopic goggles on, absent-mindedly.
Someone might want to let him know why the table appears to be so close.

He's at a loss, then.
"Well, anyway, this is kind of like a club... I mean... basically, we sit around and talk about our common interests. In this case... evil deeds."
no subject
"... why?"
no subject
"Solidarity!"
no subject
Maybe Elle has mildly experienced a sort of being-an-experiment solidarity.
But she's not much for the concept generally.
"- what if they - just want to know about you?"
There's a second part of this, but to Elle, it should be obvious.

"What, you mean like... a psychologist?"
He blinks.
no subject
Which could also be a psychologist She doesn't know.

He coughs awkwardly. "Well, I wouldn't know about that. Don't date, really."
no subject
"To kill you."
It is getting harder and harder for her to associate 'evil' with this guy.
no subject
"Oh. Well. Then."
He considers this. "The thing is... I could definitely take out any of the other guys in the League, if they tried something like that. But, I don't know. There's a code."
no subject
She might sound more than a little dubious. Of course, she's never really had a 'code' even with the people she does work with.
no subject
He looks at her. "Got a problem with codes?"
no subject
"I like not being dead."
Maybe it's more of a problem with trust.

"Let's just put it this way. If anyone broke the code, Bad Horse would get very angry."
no subject
If this is supposed to have an ominous effect, it doesn't seem to have worked on Elle.
But then again, this would likely be the case even if it involved something not as vague as 'bad horse.'
no subject
"Yeah. He's pretty bad."
no subject
Maybe this guy's world is just really, really weird.
no subject
"Yeah. That's correct."
no subject
Okay, Elle doesn't know much about what horses do. She's pretty much left with, "... does he... trample you or something?"
no subject
Beat. "I wouldn't want to find out."
no subject
She's not smooth enough to keep a straight face while saying it.
"He's in charge of your... club thing?"
no subject
no subject
Beat. "A bad one."
She actually doesn't sound amused now. The whole idea seems kind of whimsical, even if it's not very accurate.
no subject
"What about it?"
