It may not be quite the same surprise as before, but Emerson's entrance into the bar this time is still something of a nasty shock.

On the other hand, he had been craving a snack after lunch, and this doesn't require him to leave his office.

After briefly weighing his options, Emerson walks over to the bar, and orders a glass of ice cream. Instead, a strawberry-kiwi smoothie appears.

"Not what I ordered," he protests. The smoothie remains.

Emerson lifts the straw in the glass, testing the smoothie's consistency. While his craving had been for ice cream, he also did not wish to repeat the "Pooh" incident. He takes a small sip.

"Not bad," he concedes.

"Similar. Only we don't really get paid. And we never seem to handle what you could call mysteries." Which is good, since only Robin is a decent detective. "But we do stop the bad guys."

"I'll let you take care of that."

As long as Emerson gets his reward, he's happy to let the police do the catching. It's just that things rarely seem to go that way.

"I'll let the authorities take care of that."

There's a pause to take a sip of the smoothie. "When I can."

"We try to do that. But sometimes they need our help." Which is just how it is.

"How do you become a PI?"

"My momma thought I could help her catch a guy cheatin' his worker's comp."

He had been very helpful, for a five-month-old.

"That's starting young. But I get that." Not this Cy's mother lived to see her son's career, sadly.

"Not too old yourself," he observes, in return.

"Nope. Turned 18 this year. I'm actually the second oldest member of the extended Titans teams, and the oldest of the founders."

"Titan teams?"

"Teen Titans. The super-hero team I belong to. There were five of us who founded the team, but we added a lot of honorary members the last few months. We're trying to figure out how to reorganize ourselves." He's used to people not knowing the Titans in the Bar.

"Your world's got super-heroes?"

Or maybe more weirdly, people who call themselves super-heroes.

"Yeah. And super-vlllains. And aliens. And all sorts of stuff.

"Yours doesn't?"

Ned could possibly be considered a super-hero.

Though the thought of the look on Ned's face were someone to call him that cracks a brief smile on Emerson's face.

However -

"Nope. And definitely no aliens."

"Guess that isn't a terrible thing. Some aliens are a pain. Though I like a few." Like Starfire.

"Aren't they usually invading and whatnot?"

It's the typical film depiction.

Emerson won't be touching any other classic alien tropes.

"Some. Not all. Some are pretty nice. Even friends." Like Star. She's no more an alien to Cy than Robin.

Emerson's eyebrows raise, but when it comes down to it -

"Guess if you've got super-heroes..."

"We got super-villains, too. Yeah." That's how it's supposed to be, right?

"Think I'll pass," Emerson mutters, while mildly hoping Ned would never encounter a super-nemesis.

"Can't say I blame you too much. But being a hero is fun anyway." Nothing like the enthusiasm of youth.

Emerson did used to have the enthusiasm to consider the life of a PI 'badass.'

Not that that's always no longer the case, but - "I'm guessin' you got some kind of - special super powers?"

Super powers, in Emerson's experience did cut the workload. And yet somehow always left enough work for it to still be work.

"Came with the robot parts. Super-strength, endurance, really cool gear."

After a moment:

"Sounds like it just means more work."

"Taking care of my cybernetics is a little time consuming. But I like it. I would have been an engineer or a mechanic anyway. It's who I am." Sort of, since he was well on his way to a track scholarship before the accident.
