The door opens, and the chatter on the other side of the door is almost similar to the chatter within the bar itself. (He'd been in the Great Hall.)

A young boy of sixteen lingers by the woodwork, staring with wide eyes. They're familiar eyes, for those who knew his father (and, as Albus knows very well, there is hardly a wizard or witch who hasn't heard of his father) - or better yet, his grandmother - and the jet-black, slightly messy hair is a another characteristic that bears a striking resemblance to the Boy Who Lived.

But on closer inspection, one can spot the differences. This young boy does not wear glasses. And he does not have the same air of confidence the Potters tend to have. (No Potter, for example, would hesitate by the doorside, contemplating slipping back out as if he'd never stepped in at all.)

Whether one recognizes the boy or not, the unmistakable 'I've never been here before, what is this place?' look is a familiar one for any regular patron of the bar.

His smile widens.

"It's quite good, isn't it?"

"Just when I think this place can't surprise me more..." Dinah says.

"Albus, you are the second person to introduce me to a new favourite drink in Milliways.

"I'm remembering this."

Aw, yay!

"I'm glad you like it," he says rather proudly. "It's my favourite thing to drink back home. It gives you that sort of warm buzz, too, without the other less desirable after-effects."

Pause.

"What's your other favourite drink?"

"Frapuccinos," Dinah says, being from a pre-Starbucks time period. "It's like a frozen coffee milkshake."

"Those sound really good," he notes.

He's a bit curious as to what they look and taste like. They don't have things like that in the Wizarding World, and he doesn't spend near enough time in muggle London to try one either.

[raptorcanaria]

"Don't forget to try one," Dinah advises. "they can be flavoured as well, so you could have on butterscotch flavour if you wanted."

But this Butterbeer is good.

"Oh! and I don't know how old you are, but there's a fund that covers kids' tabs. I think the upper age limit is flexible, but I never used it much."

"I think I will," he says, nodding. Not now, of course - well, maybe not until he's finished with his original drink - but certainly in the near future.

"Oh? ... um. Well, I'm sixteen. I don't know if that counts. But I've got some Galleons left."

"If that's currency where you're from she'll take it," Dinah says. "Then she runs credit just fine, so I wouldn't worry too much about paying."

"Oh. Okay."

He is about to reach for his money, which is located in the front pocket of his school-bag (a slightly worn, well-used black messenger bag), but he pauses.

"Will she know my name?"

[raptorcanaria]

"The first one's free anyway," Dinah reminds him.

"But yes, she does. Don't ask me how."

He remembers, and lets his bag fall back against his side.

"What else does she know?"

[raptorcanaria]

"Bar?" Dinah shrugs. "Names, whether you're underage. things she needs to serve you, I think.

"If it's a problem, you'd have to ask Mike, he's the barman."

[honourbyname]

He nods.

"Okay. Is he an actual man? Or ... the broom closet, or something?"

[raptorcanaria]

"No, he's a man," Dinah confirms. "At the moment. He's in his twenties, blond hair,"

And... she winces, trying to figure out how to pin Mike's most obvious feature at the moment delicately. "He's got a really noticeable pot belly at the moment."

"Is that bad?"

He imagines it must be, the way she says it.

"He doesn't usually have one? A ... um. Pot belly?"

[raptorcanaria]

She shakes her head.

"...he's pregnant."


...too much information for the newbie? Nah.

Cue blank stare.

Albus is flummoxed.

[raptorcanaria]

Dinah's laugh is apologetic.

"OK, too much for a first time. This place gets you like that."

[honourbyname]

He nods slowly.

"Gets ... boys pregnant?"

Because ... uh.

[raptorcanaria]

Dinah shrugs.

"what can I say? Except use a condom at all times."

[honourbyname]

Albus blinks.

"Oh." Gulp. "Okay."

[raptorcanaria]

Dinah gives a short, embarrassed laugh.

"So tell me about your world. I haven't knocked you completely for six, have I?"

[honourbyname]

Still trying to wrap his head around this whole concept, Dinah. Give him a moment.

"U-um."

He presses his lips together.

"I'm all right, I think."

He pauses.

"Well. My world's on Earth. London, to be exact," he says. "It's called the Wizarding World, and it's ... um. Sort of hidden? Within London."

[raptorcanaria]

It makes her smile. "A hidden world? That's cool. Uh.. why is it hidden?"

"Muggles - that's um. Non-magical people - aren't really used to magic being real."
